Hello, my name is Roberta Tvenstrup, LCSW. I am currently practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida. Prior to moving south. in 2014, I had been practicing as an LICSW in the state of Rhode Island for over 20 years. My experience includes 30yrs of providing therapy and support in a multitude of settings.I have specialized training and experience with depression, stress & anxiety, PTSD, relationship & familial conflict, and adjusting to life changes.

As a therapist, I have a strong passion for working with pregnancy and the postpartum parent. This includes the whole perinatal period, birth, postpartum, infertility, and loss. In addition to those populations, I have over 12 years of experience working with specializations such as major life transitions, anxiety, adult adhd, depression, PTSD and complex trauma.

I earned both my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work Degrees from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. I am licensed in the state of New York. I am a dedicated professional with a passion for working with individuals, couples, and families.

I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Touro University in New York. During my graduate training, I completed my clinical hours at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both New York and Florida.

I trained in medicine before I became a therapist, and it changed what I listen for. When a client tells me her chest tightens before every meeting, or that she can't stop thinking about a diagnosis, I take the physical side of that seriously.

I hold a PhD in health psychology and I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and Florida. My published research is on post-traumatic growth in women. Since 2020 I've also taught graduate counseling and psychology as an adjunct professor.

I see adults dealing with trauma and complex trauma, chronic illness, health anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions. I work with women through perinatal and postpartum struggles and through fertility challenges. I also see adolescents.

I speak English, Hindi, Arabic, and Urdu. If you're dealing with immigration, acculturation, or family expectations that don't translate easily, you won't have to explain that context to me first.

I work with women, parents, and families who are feeling overwhelmed—whether it’s parenting stress, relationship challenges, or struggles with substance use. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck or carrying more than they can manage alone. Therapy with me is a space where you can feel safe, seen, and heard as we build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and help you reconnect with your clarity and confidence. Clients describe me as supportive, honest, and easy to talk to.
