Hello,
My name is Cheryl Simms Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Substance Abuse Practitioner. I am thrilled to have you here! I am all about embracing self care transforming into the best version of yourself. Get ready to shine.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. My experience includes college counseling, community mental health, and private practice, where I’ve worked with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and major life transitions.
I believe therapy works best when you can feel comfortable being fully yourself. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I want therapy to feel like a space where you feel genuinely heard and understood—not judged or talked down to. Whether you’re working through something that’s been weighing on you for years or navigating a new season of life, I’m here to meet you where you are and help you move toward the life you want.
I believe therapy should be a space where you can be yourself without fear of judgment. My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable being honest about what you are experiencing, while also feeling supported and challenged to grow. I work with adolescents, adults, and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, life transitions, emotional regulation difficulties, stress, and other challenges. I take a strengths-based approach and believe that you already possess many of the tools needed for change sometimes we just have to uncover them, strengthen them, and learn how to use them differently. I strive to make therapy relatable, meaningful, and practical so that what we discuss in session can make a difference in your everyday life.

I have a Masters degree in Professional Counseling and am credential by The National Board of Certified Counselors. My professional background is in trauma recovery and forensic psychology, meaning I have approached trauma on from both ends of the spectrum. There is little I haven't seen or heard clinically. This allows me to remain open minded, and has given me the knowledge and experience to provide a safe, supportive space for exploration.
Whether you are a teenager navigating anxiety and identity, an adult carrying grief or trauma, or a family trying to find your footing again, you deserve a space where you can finally feel heard. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across community-based, crisis stabilization, and outpatient settings, including trauma-focused care for adults.
