I became a mental health provider because I believe everyone deserves to be heard.
My practice is built on a level of clinical depth that sets my care apart: my background includes extensive hands-on experience in high-acuity inpatient psychiatric units, comprehensive outpatient clinics, and active service as a Mental Health Nurse in the U.S. Air Force.
At Mental Clarity Psychiatry, I take an integrative, unhurried approach to whole-person care, focusing on how your physical health, lifestyle, and unique life story impact your mind. My goal is to build a partnership based on true trust rather than just managing symptoms, combining clinical expertise with personalized guidance to help you find a sustainable path back to yourself. Hi! I am Katie. I am an Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Masters Certified Addictions Counselor (MCAP). I received my bachelors from UF and then went on to get my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from USF. I have nearly 10 years of experience working in the helping profession. After graduation, I began working in child welfare and for the past 3 years I have been working in residential substance use and trauma treatment programs.
I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with 26 years of nursing experience in various capacities, including psychiatric mental health and addiction medicine for the last 8 years. My passion is to walk alongside my patients on their mental health journey, helping them navigate challenges, cultivate lasting wellness, and restore balance for a meaningful and fulfilling life.
I hold a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies from Colorado Christian University. I also have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Finding the right person to work with can make all the difference between a successful and unsuccessful therapy outcome.
Life can be full of different stressors, which is where I can help. I will provide a warm, non-judgmental, safe, and interactive environment where we take on complex subjects, deep-seated traumas, or for you to say the things you've never told anyone before. I understand these are difficult subjects to speak about, and I will build a therapeutic relationship with you so that you feel strong enough to share. By doing this, we can form realistic and attainable goals to establish growth and promote healing. Remember that healing is not linear. The best gift you can give yourself is to master the chaos & find a way around it.
With more than 30 years of experience as a clinical psychologist, I am passionate about helping adults and older adults navigate life’s emotional, psychological, and cognitive challenges. I provide psychotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and neuropsychological evaluations, with particular experience supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, memory concerns, adjustment issues, and the impact of aging or medical conditions. My approach is compassionate, respectful, and individualized, and I strive to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to improve your quality of life.
