I have extensive professional and personal experience with military families and veterans. I understand first-hand the struggles of grief and medical conditions that impact all aspects of life. I have supported chronically and terminally ill patients, individuals living with cancer or chronic medical diagnoses, as well as parents experiencing infertility, peripartum, and postpartum depression. I am a licensed therapist whose passion, knowledge, and expertise has been from working with women from many different backgrounds and walks of life. I received my masters in counseling from Pennsylvania Western University and have spent the last two years working with nurses and nursing students. Prior to that, I have spent many years working with youth and young adult women in psychiatric and hospital settings providing specialized care and support with grief/loss, relationship and familial issues, life changes, and general life exploration.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience providing evidence-based mental health care to adolescents and adults. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, life stressors, and other emotional challenges. I also have extensive expertise in the assessment and management of suicide risk. My goal is to provide a supportive environment where you feel comfortable talking openly about what you are experiencing while we work together to identify practical, evidence-based ways to help you feel and function better.
For more than two decades, I served as a psychologist in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). During my time there, I conducted comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, provided individual and group therapy, and developed treatment plans for adolescents and families experiencing a wide range of psychiatric and emotional concerns. I also co-developed the Child and Adolescent Mood Program (CHAMP), a specialized clinical program focused on evaluating and treating young people with mood disorders.
My work at CHOP gave me particularly deep experience helping adolescents and families navigate depression, mood disorders, anxiety, emotional distress, and complex mental health concerns. It also reinforced the importance of understanding what is happening not only from the patient's perspective, but within the broader context of family, school, relationships, development, and everyday life.
In addition to my clinical work, I have an extensive background in academic research, including research involving youth mood disorders and perinatal depression. I have also supervised and trained psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, and psychiatry residents.
