I received my masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from Xavier University in 2020, but have been working in the mental health field since 2016. My professional background in foster care treatment has helped me form a foundation for trauma treatment.
I believe therapy should be real, not stiff. Therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and human. My style is relaxed, warm, direct, and funny when it helps. I work with people navigating grief, life transitions, self-esteem struggles, chronic health diagnosis, complex family dynamics, marital challenges and complicated expectations placed on women. We will sort though what's heavy, challenge the narratives that aren't' serving you and help realize a life that feels more like your own. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and working towards growth.
Your therapy is not about me, but in today's climate most people want to know the values of their therapist. I bring a commitment to social justice and equality into my work. This perspective helps me create a space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood within the full context of their lives.
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Kentucky, and I also supervise and train others working toward licensure. My goal is to create a space where you can feel heard and human. One of my core beliefs is that we listen without judgment, and together, we work to help you get to where you want to be.
Great to meet you! My name is Linda Smiley, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I enjoy being a therapist because everyone deserves to be validated, listened to, and given the opportunity to live their best life. I am born and raised in Kentucky, and have also lived in a couple of other states — experiences that have shaped how I practice. Working with individuals from other cultures has given me a multicultural lens, and that perspective is part of every session I offer.
If you or your child have been carrying something heavy, like the aftermath of trauma, anxiety that keeps your body on high alert, or a low mood that will not lift, you do not have to white knuckle it alone. I am Rhiannon Brown, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I help people process what they have been through and find their footing again. I work with children, teens, and adults, including LGBTQIA+ and trans folks, neurodivergent clients, and people with chronic or invisible illnesses.
In life the most important aspect is the relationship we have with ourselves and others. As a mental health therapist I believe healing happens through connection, understanding, and feeling truly heard. I help individuals navigate the effects of trauma, strengthen relationships, and develop the tools needed to create lasting emotional well being in a warm, nonjudgmental environment.
I strongly believe in "meeting my clients where they are." I empower my clients to know their strengths and believe in their ability to reach their goals. I have never been one to do what everyone else is doing, so I try to help individuals be themselves and reach their own goals.
Welcome, and thank you for reaching out.
Starting counseling is an important step, and I’m glad you’re here. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment.
I bring over 25 years of experience working with individuals and families. I am currently a university professor and have been in higher education for the past 16 years. Prior to that, I spent 10 years investigating child maltreatment, which gave me extensive experience supporting individuals and families through difficult and often overwhelming life circumstances.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than a decade of experience helping children, adolescents, adults, couples, and older adults navigate life. My background includes working in outpatient therapy, community mental health, crisis intervention, trauma treatment, and clinical leadership.
My areas of focus include family therapy, reunification, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, grief, self-esteem, co-dependency, stress management, and personal healing and growth.
As a Christian counselor, I am happy to incorporate faith-based principles when requested, while respecting each client's individual beliefs and values.
I am committed to helping clients develop practical skills, gain insight, and move toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.
I believe every person has inherent worth and the capacity for growth, healing, and change. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients can feel heard, understood, and supported.
