I’m Alicia Battle, founder of Battle Mental Health, where healing, clarity, and personal transformation meet. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, my mission is to help individuals step into the fullest expression of who they are, using the mind as an instrument for alignment, growth, and powerful change.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Georgia State University and completed my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University. Beyond the therapy room, I am deeply committed to leadership and developing others. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is mentoring professionals, teaching the foundations of a strong and ethical practice, and helping them strengthen both their skills and their confidence. In every leadership capacity I hold, my goal is to help people rise, lead with clarity, and step into the strongest version of themselves.
At the core of my work is a simple belief: your mind is your greatest asset. When guided, strengthened, and understood, it becomes the force that helps you reshape your patterns, elevate your resilience, and create a life rooted in intention and emotional freedom.
Before I became a therapist, I spent years in the classroom as a 9th grade English teacher and school social worker, as well as in nonprofit, learning how people grow through story, creativity, and being truly seen. That background, along with a lifelong love of dance, writing, and music, shapes how I practice as an LCSW today. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationships, stress, and identity, and I bring the same warmth and directness I developed in education to every session. If you are looking for a therapist who will be both a steady presence and an honest thinking partner, I would love to connect.

I enjoy working with couples, families, and individuals. My goal is to be a partner with you on your journey toward healing your relationships. As a marriage and family therapist, I offer a compassionate insightful perspective as a tool for growth. I have experience working with people who struggle with issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, parenting issues, and life transition stressors. I enjoy working with diverse populations, and in navigating a new path toward healing.
I provide reliable, compassionate, and personalized support tailored to each of my patient's specific needs. My goals are to build trust, provide support and knowledge, and promote independence. I believe in mutual respect and the importance of having freedom to be your authentic self, no matter how hard it may be. I don't believe there is a one size fits all solution, we will work together utilizing many treatment modalities to achieve growth you can be proud of. My priority is making each client feel seen, and valued while aiding in the growth process.
I have a passion for creating healing spaces that are affirming, empowering, and real. As a Queer Person of Color, I know firsthand how identity can shape the way we move through the world and how important it is to be seen and supported in our full complexity.
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients, QTBIPOC communities, and those navigating anxiety, identity exploration, trauma, and life transitions.

I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives, whether they’re experiencing anxiety, depression, a major life transition, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the pressure of trying to hold everything together.
I believe therapy should be a place where you can be honest without worrying about being judged. My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable being yourself while we work together to better understand what’s getting in the way and identify meaningful steps forward. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, burnout, and the emotional weight that can come from being the dependable one for everyone else or holding yourself to incredibly high standards.
Get what you need! That is my philosophy! I am pleased to hold space for individuals that is warm, relaxing, neutral, and intentional. Im Kendra, I have a bachelors in fine art, and I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2022. I draw on four years of working in community mental health with folks recovering from substance abuse and behaviors that no longer helpful or are directly harming relationships and mental health. I have lived experience with recovery and loving people struggling with addiction. I have been described as a warm, curious, compassionate, and empowering counselor. I offer trauma‐informed care that is inclusive to all humans, healing happens when you can show up as your authentic and full self!
I specialize in the treatment of adult women who have ADHD.
Women and girls are shamed, gaslit and neglected by many aspects of the medical system. The ability required to recognize and adequately treat ADHD in women requires a specialized knowledge of the disorder, but many healthcare providers are still missing the mark — and the client ends up suffering needlessly.
I am actively working to help women with ADHD learn about, and master, their symptoms using an individualized approach that creates new possibilities for thriving with ADHD, and paves the path toward recovery from the lifetime of shame caused by this misunderstood condition.
I work with people who are female-identifying or nonbinary, ages 18 and up, and I have special interest in Women’s Issues. I am also neurodivergent-affirming, disability-affirming, and proudly Queer-Allied.
ADHD has been, is, and will be present for the lifetime of the person. It does not have a “cure,” but it can effectively be treated. One does not “grow out of it,” despite what you may have been told. One cannot simply ignore it or choose to pretend it’s not real. But we can educate ourselves about it, learn how to work with it and thrive.
Bottom line, ADHD is often a diagnosis that does not get a lot of attention (hah!). People struggle from the anxiety and depression that results from the unmanaged symptoms of ADHD, and that’s what typically brings them to seek out therapy or medication. Therapy aims to alleviate that depression and anxiety with strong research-based methods, but you still have unchecked and unaddressed ADHD. If we don’t examine specifically how your particular version of ADHD shows up, it can end up being overlooked and ignored, but ignoring something doesn’t mean it’s gone.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in North Carolina
Searching for therapists in North Carolina means choosing from a wide range of licensed therapists across urban, suburban, and rural areas. The right fit may depend on what you want support with, such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, or life transitions. As you compare North Carolina therapists, look for training and specialties that match your needs. A therapist’s profile can show whether they use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, or family therapy.
Your options for therapy in North Carolina may look different in Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, or smaller communities across the state. Some people prefer meeting with a therapist in person, while others choose virtual sessions for schedule flexibility or access to more therapists licensed in North Carolina. Beyond specialty, consider appointment times, whether a therapist is accepting new patients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading bios can help you understand each therapist’s communication style, session structure, and areas of focus before you book.
The cost of mental health care in North Carolina varies, and therapy can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find therapists and counselors in North Carolina who match your preferences, take your insurance, and are accepting new patients. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and you can enter your insurance details to see your estimated cost before booking.
If anyone in your family is experiencing or worried about abuse, threats, or coercion, joint family or couples therapy usually isn't the right starting point — individual support is safer. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-422-4453) and National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
