I have been practicing as a licensed therapist for 10 years and specialize in helping people reclaim their lives by healing from the pain of trauma, anxiety, and depression. I am trained as a clinical mental health counselor with additional specializations in play therapy and trauma focused work. I work with all populations from preteen into adulthood.
Hi! My name is Daria Barksdale and I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a yoga instructor. I received my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University. I've been counseling for 6 years now. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress management for children, teens, and adults. I've worked in a crisis center, in the school system, with the Department of Social Services, as well as with private practices.
I got my MA in Dance/Movement Therapy and Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2009 and have since worked mostly in community mental health. I'm excited to move more fully into working with women in transitional spaces of life looking for support and validation about their desires and next steps. I also work with preschool age children in their homes or school to help behavioral and relationship issues.
I am a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), which allows me to care for both mental and physical health in a more integrated way. I work with individuals across the lifespan and support a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, psychotic symptoms, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, and stress-related challenges.
My background in both psychiatry and primary care helps me understand how closely mental health is connected to physical health, lifestyle, and overall well-being. I strive to provide care that is thoughtful, personalized, and rooted in evidence-based practice.
Your voice matters. Your feelings matter. You are important and you matter.
After more than a decade of work with clients, I believe we have an innate ability to adapt and heal when given the right space to do so. I enjoy creating an empowering space where clients access their internal strengths and confidently create the change they desire.

About Me
Welcome! My name is William Galloway, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist with more than a decade of experience in behavioral health. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in outpatient therapy, inpatient psychiatry, crisis and emergency services, pediatric behavioral health, residential treatment, and community-based care. I enjoy working with teens, young adults, adults, and helping professionals who may be navigating anxiety, depression, stress, substance use, major life transitions, or simply feeling stuck and ready for something different.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, practical, and judgment-free. I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as yourself, speak openly, and feel supported while also being challenged to grow. I utilize an evidence based treatment in my practice to help you progress toward healing. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing, so we’ll work together to understand your experiences, recognize your strengths, and develop tools that make sense for your life. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting—sometimes you just need a safe place to begin.
I help to create a safe, collaborative space where you will feel seen, not judged. Our relationship is one where you can let your guard down and show up as your full self. It is my goal to use a warm and compassionate relationship to walk alongside you, offering reflection, compassion, and challenge when needed to help you reach your goals.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in North Carolina
Searching for therapists in North Carolina means choosing from a wide range of licensed therapists across urban, suburban, and rural areas. The right fit may depend on what you want support with, such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, or life transitions. As you compare North Carolina therapists, look for training and specialties that match your needs. A therapist’s profile can show whether they use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, or family therapy.
Your options for therapy in North Carolina may look different in Charlotte, Raleigh, Asheville, or smaller communities across the state. Some people prefer meeting with a therapist in person, while others choose virtual sessions for schedule flexibility or access to more therapists licensed in North Carolina. Beyond specialty, consider appointment times, whether a therapist is accepting new patients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading bios can help you understand each therapist’s communication style, session structure, and areas of focus before you book.
The cost of mental health care in North Carolina varies, and therapy can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find therapists and counselors in North Carolina who match your preferences, take your insurance, and are accepting new patients. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, and you can enter your insurance details to see your estimated cost before booking.
If anyone in your family is experiencing or worried about abuse, threats, or coercion, joint family or couples therapy usually isn't the right starting point — individual support is safer. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-422-4453) and National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
