Healing and growth can be challenging, and you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re feeling the weight of past experiences or facing challenges in your relationship, we offer a warm, welcoming space for relational psychotherapy where you can be honest about what you’re carrying and feel fully supported. Our work is grounded in relational and attachment-focused therapy with attention to somatic awareness.
We focus on what matters most—the moments that spark insight, the conversations that feel necessary but tough, and the steps that help you move forward. Together, we will process what has been difficult, nurture your connection with yourself, and deepen your bond with the people who matter most.
Hi, I’m Yitzchok Wagshul. One day, my young grandson asked me what kind of doctor I am. I’m a clinical psychologist, so I replied, “I’m the kind of doctor who helps sad people feel happy.” He looked at me and said, “Zaidy,” (that’s “Grandpa” in Yiddish) "that’s not being a doctor, that’s just being nice!” That’s a cute story, but I want to tell you something: the better part of therapy is “being nice.” I know a lot of psychology. But if I didn’t respect each person I work with, if I didn’t view them with complete acceptance and unconditional positive regard, all of that would be worthless, because no one would listen to me.
I am a clinical psychotherapist with almost a decade of experience working with couples and adults who want to better understand themselves, and work towards creating the lives and relationships they crave. I am passionate about helping people reconnect to themselves, their hopes, and their autonomy. I specialize in relational/marital challenges, anxiety, grief, addiction, eating disorders, and trauma.
I utilize a multi-theoretical basis for all my clients. For my practice, trust, warmth and communication are the foundations of a good therapeutic relationship. I have a specialty in child/adolescent/family issues. However, I see many young adults who have issues feeling at ease and confident in their relationships and workplace. I endeavor to lift my clients out of the dark place that may be weighing them down to finding the solutions that will enable them to live freely.

Are you... A young adult struggling in the attempt to to navigate life transitions, school, the workforce, family life or other issues?
Or a couple having trouble finding the right words to communicate and find expression in your relationship?
You can thrive.
Hi! I’m Hudi Kowalsky, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a passion to help teens and young adults find meaning and purpose in their lives.
How my practice is different:
Goal Focused Therapy. I believe in short, goal-focused therapy. That’s why, we set goals and together we hit the ground running. If you put in the work, you’ll see results within 12 weeks. I know that’s a bold statement, but my past clients can attest to that.
Client Feedback. I check in periodically on your thoughts about the process. I want to hear from you, what’s working? What isn’t? Is there anything that you’d like to see different? And then I tweak it accordingly.
I know it can be hard to find the right therapist. Maybe you think it’s only for people with “serious” issues. Maybe you’ve been to a few therapists but you didn’t see change and you’re wondering what another therapist can offer you. Maybe you’re afraid of what people will think of you if you go to therapy. Maybe you’re not sure therapy is worth the investment.
I understand. That’s why I’m here to answer any questions you may have prior to booking an intake session.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Mental Health Therapist in Hempstead, NY
Searching for therapists in Hempstead starts with knowing what kind of support you want. People often look for therapy for anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, or work stress. As you compare therapists, look for listed specialties, therapy styles, and experience that match your needs. A therapist’s bio can help you understand whether they use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, or another style that fits what you are looking for.
In Hempstead, local therapist availability may vary, so virtual appointments can give you more options while still letting you work with a therapist licensed in New York. Some people prefer an office close to Hempstead, Garden City, West Hempstead, or nearby Long Island communities. Others choose virtual sessions that fit better with their schedule. To narrow your search, compare appointment times, whether a therapist is accepting new patients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading profiles before booking can also show how a therapist describes their communication style and what a first session may look like.
Therapy in Hempstead can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before starting care. Headway helps you search for therapists who match your preferences, verify your insurance, and see an estimated out-of-pocket cost before you book. You can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you are ready.
