My path into psychiatry is both professional and personal. I moved to the U.S. alone at 17 while navigating complex PTSD and periods of misdiagnosis, which shaped how I understand mental health today. I began with a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Nankai University, then trained as a nurse and nurse practitioner at Charles R. Drew University and Purdue University.
Over the past 7 years, I’ve worked across medical and mental health settings, developing an approach that balances clinical precision with individualized care. I specialize in anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and complex PTSD, particularly for individuals who feel stuck or haven’t found relief in traditional treatment.
I’m licensed in California, Virginia, New York, Washington, and Oregon, and provide care via telehealth.
Assisting all people to discover their maximum potential and overcome barriers to their emotional, psychological and spiritual well being is my life's work. My approach is informed by a non-judgmental challenge to self and the environment that in unlocking potential no matter your age, gender, ethnicity, or economic background.
I am originally from North Carolina and moved to Virginia 6 years ago. I studied at Wake Forest University. Since I was younger, I've enjoyed helping others and learning about the science of mental health. It became my hobby when I was younger. I enjoy working with so many backgrounds and increasing my education each year as I help new people. Currently, I like to utilize mindfulness based CBT, DBT, and ACT.
I’ve been a practicing clinical psychologist for 40 years. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with many different types of people, including those navigating PTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, eating disorders, veterans’ issues, parenting challenges, life transitions, and women’s issues. I’ve worked in private practice, counseling centers, nursing homes, inpatient treatment, and equine therapy, which has given me broad experience supporting clients across many settings and stages of life.

Find an expert who truly understands OCD
Headway helps you manage obsessive-compulsive disorder with expert-guided support — from finding the right therapist or psychiatrist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an OCD Therapist in Arlington
Finding OCD therapists in Arlington starts with looking for training that matches how obsessive-compulsive disorder is often addressed in care. OCD support may focus on intrusive thoughts, compulsions, rituals, avoidance, or anxiety that connects to specific fears. Exposure and Response Prevention, often called ERP, is a common therapy approach used for OCD, and not all therapists are trained in it. As you compare therapists, look for ERP, cognitive behavioral therapy, and OCD experience in their bios so you can choose someone whose background fits your needs.
Arlington has a smaller local therapist market than nearby Washington, DC, so virtual appointments can expand your options while still giving you access to Virginia-licensed therapists. If you prefer in-person care, consider office location, commute time, and appointment availability. If virtual care fits your schedule better, look for therapists with session times that match your calendar. It can also help to read each therapist’s profile for details on how they describe OCD care, since listing OCD as an area of focus differs from naming specific ERP training or related methods.
Therapy in Arlington can be a significant investment without insurance, and using in-network coverage is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you compare therapists who are accepting new patients, review their specialties, and see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before you book. Headway also accepts a wide range of insurance plans nationally, with coverage confirmed based on your plan and location, so you can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
