As a therapist, I strive to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and full of hope. I believe that everyone has the ability to create change in their life — sometimes we just need the right tools and someone to walk beside us. My goal is to help you reconnect with your strengths and move forward with confidence and self-compassion
Are you looking for a medication free treatment for ADHD, anxiety, depression, stuttering, developmental disabilities, or other brain related difficulties? Or, are you a high achieving student, professional or athlete who desires to enhance your performance in academics, athletics, or business? Everyone wants to have more effective, more efficient brain power. We want to perform at our personal peak, without the use of psychotropic medications. As a Licensed Psychologist and Board Certified Neurotherapist, I treat children and adults using brain training, and individual and family counseling techniques.
We teach the brain to regulate itself using EEG neurofeedback, as well as safe and subtle neurostimulation. While the brain is growing stronger and more adaptive, counseling is provided to assist with problem solving strategies and the cultivation of enhanced emotional and behavioral regulation.
Give us a call today so we may begin training your brain to function its peak performance. We have evening & weekend hours available. No student need miss any school.
Hi, I'm James Greenwald, a licensed professional counselor with 10+ years of experience in both private practice and public mental health services here in North Texas. I'm a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, and my training centers on concepts and skills from dialectical behavioral and family systems models of therapy. I specialize in assisting clients struggling with depression, anxiety, patterns of addiction, life transitions, boundaries, and various levels of trauma recovery.
I am a LPC in private pratice. I have work with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and trauma. I utilize a combination of psychoeducation, skills-building, and talk therapy to help my clients achieve their goals. I have had the honor of working with people of all backgrounds and bringing cultural awareness to the therapeutic connection.
As a therapist, I believe that therapy should be anti-racist, LGBTQ+ and gender-affirming, intersectional, and inclusive.
I am dual licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I have extensive experience working in private practice and residential treatment for addiction and severe mental health. In addition to my MA for counseling I also have a Master of Theology and enjoy working with individuals navigating their spirituality.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in McKinney, TX
Searching for therapists in McKinney starts with finding someone whose training matches what you want support with. People often look for therapy for anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, trauma, or work stress. As you compare McKinney therapists, look for specialties and approaches that fit your needs, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, couples counseling, or faith-informed counseling when that matters to you.
McKinney has local options for therapy, but the right match may not be limited to an office near your neighborhood. Virtual appointments can expand your choices across Texas while still letting you see a therapist licensed in the state. Compare practical details like appointment availability, scheduling flexibility, whether the therapist is accepting new clients, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Reading bios before booking can also help you understand each therapist’s communication style, clinical focus, and what sessions may look like.
Therapy in McKinney can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, review estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking, and find someone who matches your needs, schedule, and plan.
