Welcome! I am so glad you found me. I am a highly trained therapist who works with children and adolescents ages 3-18 as well as young adults and parents. I received my undergraduate degree from Dallas Baptist University and my Masters in Counseling from the University of North Texas. I am an LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have also worked with foster and adoptive children and their families and I am trauma-informed as well having a broad range of experience in education. I have two therapy dogs who often join me in sessions. George is an experienced helper while Charolette is still a puppy in training. I have been working with children for over 20 years.
Hello, my professional background includes 20 years of working with Veterans, First Responders, their family members, and the public at large. I earned my Master's degree in 2007 and my Doctorate in 2013 both in Counseling Psychology. My specialties include PTSI (post-traumatic stress injury), self-medication, depression, and anxiety.
Thank you for taking a moment to read my profile! I specialize in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR. I work with clients who may be facing complex post-traumatic stress disorder caused by childhood neglect, abuse, or domestic violence. C-PTSD can lead to anxiety, depression, inability to regulate emotions, strained relationships, intense feelings of distrust, dissociation, or suicidal thoughts.
I am here to help you meet your personal goals regarding your mental health.
What I would want clients to know about me is that I understand how heavy life can feel when you are carrying too much for too long. I often work with moms, caregivers, children, teens, and adults who are navigating anxiety, stress, overwhelm, life transitions, and the pressure to keep showing up even when they feel emotionally exhausted. If you are a mom who feels like you are always running, always thinking about what someone else needs, and slowly losing touch with yourself, this can be a space to pause, breathe, and begin finding your way back to you.
I also bring many years of experience in education and school counseling, which helps me support children, teens, and families with a practical understanding of how home, school, relationships, and daily responsibilities can impact emotional well-being. My goal is not to help you chase perfection, but to help you build more balance, clarity, confidence, and peace in your everyday life. Whether you are trying to feel like yourself again or trying to support a child who is struggling, you do not have to figure it all out alone.
I work with adults who are overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or struggling to navigate a major life transition—and are ready to understand themselves better and make meaningful changes.
Being in this helping profession for 30 years and 20 years within therapy, my approach is based on an individual's needs. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have worked in almost every therapeutic arena. From outpatient, inpatient, individual, group to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, I gained experience in multiple avenues. I predominately specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy but also allow for a mutual approach to achieve your goals and needs within this therapeutic process. We will work together for success.

Find the right therapist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Harlingen
Searching for therapists in Harlingen starts with knowing what kind of support you want from therapy. Therapists may help with concerns like anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. As you compare options, look for a therapist whose listed specialties, training, and approach match what you want to focus on. Provider profiles can also show whether a therapist uses approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, or family therapy.
In a smaller city like Harlingen, local in-person options may be more limited than in larger Texas markets. Virtual therapy can expand your search while still letting you work with a therapist licensed in Texas. As you narrow your options, consider appointment availability, whether a therapist is accepting new patients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading each profile before booking can help you understand the therapist’s communication style, session structure, and areas of focus.
Therapy in Harlingen can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for therapists who match your needs, verify your insurance, see estimated out-of-pocket costs, and book directly when you’re ready.
If anyone in your family is experiencing or worried about abuse, threats, or coercion, joint family or couples therapy usually isn't the right starting point — individual support is safer. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-422-4453) and National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
