In the middle of college, at 19, I found myself in rehab, struggling with multiple addictions. This rerouted me from my dreams of Broadway to sparking a 30+ year career in the fields of prevention, early intervention and treatment of substance use disorders and other addictions. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment with adolescents and adults, in therapeutic schools, as a middle and high school counselor, and as a parenting coach.
I’m licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor, Prevention Specialist, and certified in Digital Health & Wellness. It's also important you know that my own family and close social circle are diverse humans, and I'm comfortable and specially trained to work with LGBTQ+, racial, cultural and religious diversity.
“My professional background as a Registered Dietitian led me to recognize my strengths as a social scientist, with a deeper passion for listening, understanding, and counseling others. I graduated from Drexel University in my hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I went on to become dually licensed as both a Registered Dietitian and a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor after completing a two-year internship.”
Therapy with me is conversational, compassionate, and grounded. We’ll take time to understand what you’ve been carrying, where patterns may be keeping you stuck, and what you need to feel steadier and more connected. Sometimes that includes learning tools to manage anxiety day-to-day, and other times it means slowing down enough to process deeper and sometimes uncomfortable experiences. There will be moments when I challenge you, but I am right beside you throughout the journey.
I am passionate about making a difference in my clients' lives.15 years of experience with complicated grief, family systems, couples, teens, and veterans. Areas of competence- complicated grief, anxiety, anger management, depression, personality disorders, relationship issues, high conflict divorce and child custody challenges for you and your children. Education in forensic psychology adds a professional competence in assessments, high conflict resolutions, human behaviors, child development and interpersonal skills.
Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed with life, exhausted, anxious, or depressed? Have you experienced a stressful or traumatic life event? Perhaps you struggle with a chronic illness. Maybe you struggle with a difficult child or teen. Or maybe your partner has been unfaithful. Are you tired of feeling isolated and hopeless? You want- no, you need- things to change, but you don’t where to begin. Asking for help can be one of the most difficulty things to do, but I would be honored to help you discover your inner strength and begin your journey to healing and being who you are meant to be.
I have received training in Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) for managing bipolar disorders as well as certification as a clinical trauma professional. A nationally certified counselor, I am also a member of LPC Association of NC and the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP).
I am passionate about helping people triumph over trauma, learn mindfulness-based practices to reduce stress and manage anxiety, improve self-esteem, understand the relationship among our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors (CBT) and learn to tolerate distress in their lives.
I hold a masters degree and am a licensed mental health counselor. I also hold a hefty life school certification. I am a nerd. I am an artist. That combination is pretty cool and useful in relating to you as a person and not a collection of problems to be fixed.

Factors to Consider When Choosing an Anxiety Therapist in Lumberton, NC
Searching for therapists in Lumberton starts with finding someone whose training fits what you want support with. People often look for therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, stress, trauma, or major life changes. As you compare therapists, look for specialties and approaches that match your needs. A therapist may list experience with cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, family therapy, or other methods. Their profile can also show how they structure sessions and what you can expect from their style.
In a smaller city like Lumberton, the number of nearby in-person options may be more limited than in larger areas. Virtual therapy can expand your search to more therapists licensed in North Carolina while still giving you the option to choose in-person care when it fits. Beyond specialty, consider appointment times, whether a therapist is accepting new clients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading bios before booking can help you compare communication style, areas of focus, and scheduling fit in one place.
Therapy in Lumberton can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before starting care. Headway helps you search for therapists who take insurance, review estimated out-of-pocket costs before you book, and see who is accepting new clients. You can browse therapist profiles, compare virtual and in-person options, and book directly when you’re ready.
If anyone in your family is experiencing or worried about abuse, threats, or coercion, joint family or couples therapy usually isn't the right starting point — individual support is safer. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-422-4453) and National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
