As a therapist, I believe in your story and your individual experience. A space that is safe, comfortable, & free of judgement is essential for your success. It is important that you are in control of your own therapeutic experience, and I believe my role as a therapist is to serve as a guide & emotional support for you through your own journey. To provide a more authentic process and promote psycho-education, I aim to actively engage with you through discussions and person-centered support. “Pain is real, but so is hope”, and that is the main goal of my therapeutic approach: instill hope.
With over a decade of experience, I am dedicated to helping adults find peace, clarity, and emotional balance. I take a holistic, person-centered approach, combining clinical expertise with genuine compassion to support my clients' journey to restoration. I have extensive experience in mental health, correctional healthcare, and community psychiatry.
If you're an adult navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, substance use, burnout, or other challenges, and it feels like life doesn't leave room to sort it out, I'd like to help. I'm Dr. Cooke, a psychologist who works with people from a wide range of backgrounds, including active-duty service members, veterans, and dependents navigating demanding careers and environments. I earned my PhD in clinical psychology from Texas Tech, where I researched trauma, substance use, and the effects of head injuries, before finishing my training at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Whatever brings you to therapy, my goal is to understand what's happening and work with you to find a way forward that fits your life. Together, we identify what's getting in the way and build practical, evidence-based ways to address it.
I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed mental health professional and clinical supervisor with more than 18 years of experience supporting individuals across the lifespan. I provide telehealth services to clients in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Virginia.
My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. I believe that each person brings unique strengths, abilities, and experiences to their journey, and I strive to create a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative space where you can feel heard and understood.
My goal is to work alongside you to navigate challenges, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools to support your mental health and overall well-being. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward greater health and wellness.

I'm a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish) who came to Virginia from Bolivia in 2003. Before entering private practice, I spent years working in Child Protective Services and maternal health — systems that gave me an honest, on-the-ground understanding of what families face when life gets complicated. That experience still shapes how I show up for clients today: I'm not here to give you textbook answers. I'm here to sit with the real thing. I specialize in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, BPD, maternal mental health, and the kind of grief that doesn't fit on a sympathy card. I'm especially attuned to the unique pressures of immigration, cultural identity, and what it means to build a life in a country that wasn't your starting point. If you've ever felt like no one really gets the full picture of who you are, that's exactly the kind of space I try to create.
Dr. Lakitha Owens is a hearing, Black, cisgendered woman, she has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Gallaudet University. She is the founder of Purple Cares, which seeks to provide caring and compassionate mental health services to children and adults.
