In the middle of college, at 19, I found myself in rehab, struggling with multiple addictions. This rerouted me from my dreams of Broadway to sparking a 30+ year career in the fields of prevention, early intervention and treatment of substance use disorders and other addictions. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment with adolescents and adults, in therapeutic schools, as a middle and high school counselor, and as a parenting coach.
I’m licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor, Prevention Specialist, and certified in Digital Health & Wellness. It's also important you know that my own family and close social circle are diverse humans, and I'm comfortable and specially trained to work with LGBTQ+, racial, cultural and religious diversity.
“My professional background as a Registered Dietitian led me to recognize my strengths as a social scientist, with a deeper passion for listening, understanding, and counseling others. I graduated from Drexel University in my hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I went on to become dually licensed as both a Registered Dietitian and a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor after completing a two-year internship.”
Therapy with me is conversational, compassionate, and grounded. We’ll take time to understand what you’ve been carrying, where patterns may be keeping you stuck, and what you need to feel steadier and more connected. Sometimes that includes learning tools to manage anxiety day-to-day, and other times it means slowing down enough to process deeper and sometimes uncomfortable experiences. There will be moments when I challenge you, but I am right beside you throughout the journey.
I graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas and have been working in the mental health field since 2018.
I completed my internship experiences at the Chaplain Family Life Training Center in Fort Hood, TX, and the Community Life Counseling Center in Belton, TX, from 2016-2018.
I have experience working in residential treatment, and a group practice setting in Asheville, NC before deciding to open Auden Counseling. I am licensed as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors.
I'm a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC) offering a supportive, judgment-free space for children, teens, and adults. I specialize in helping clients work through trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and difficult life experiences. Using approaches such as EMDR, CBT, ACT, and DBT, I help clients better understand their experiences, develop practical coping skills, and move toward feeling more confident and in control. My goal is to provide a safe place where you feel heard, supported, and able to move forward.
Your Journey to Healing Starts Here! Life doesn't have to feel overwhelming. If you're struggling with difficult thoughts, intense emotions, or patterns that keep you stuck, you're not alone—and there is hope for change. Whether you're dealing with depression, anxiety, or relationship challenges that feel impossible to navigate, we'll work together to identify what's keeping you stuck and create a clear path forward. Life stressors can be confusing and overwhelming, affecting how we see ourselves, our relationships and our future.
I have been in private practice for 20 years with my specialty focusing on individuals resolving historic traumas and women balancing all of the complications of womanhood in a fast paced, demanding world. My style is informed from my diverse experience. I have worked in adolescent residential treatment, FBI consulting, an expert witness and a graduate school professorship; all the while working with my private practice clients. In the last several years, I have been sought out as a corporate consultant and speaker to discuss how our negative experiences and traumas shape our behaviors as high intensity professionals.
The untapped magnificence I see in my clients never ceases to inspire and amaze me. Anyone who is willing to do hard work is already a gift to this World! I've grown bored of many things in my life but this work....never!

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Mental Health Therapist in Franklin, NC
Finding therapists in Franklin starts with knowing what kind of support fits your needs. You may be looking for help with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, or stress. As you compare therapists, look for training and listed specialties that match what you want to focus on. A therapist’s bio can also show how they approach sessions, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, or skills-based support.
In a smaller city like Franklin, nearby in-person therapy options may be more limited than in larger North Carolina markets. Virtual therapy can expand your choices while still letting you work with a therapist licensed in North Carolina. As you narrow your search, consider appointment times, whether the therapist is accepting new clients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading profiles before booking can help you compare communication style, areas of focus, and what to expect in a first session.
Therapy in Franklin can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand your expected out-of-pocket expense before care begins. Headway helps you search for therapists who match your preferences, see estimated costs after your insurance is verified, and book directly when you’re ready.
