I have been a licensed psychotherapist practicing for 38 years, mostly focusing on treating depression, anxiety disorders and stress management. I work a great deal with couples as well.
My experience is centered on collaborating with youth, adults, and families. During these developing years and shifting dynamics, additional care for our health is needed. I work with emotional regulation, relational rifts, enhancing communication, and acceptance of self.
With attachment focused therapy as my base, I utilize mindfulness and experiential approaches in our work together. Our conversations and therapeutic activities are guided by your experience and goals.
I am a licensed therapist who specializes in anxiety depression and behavioral addictions such as gambling, gaming, shopping, and technology use. I became an LCSW because, quite simply, I love people and have the deepest respect for all living things. I have a masters in Social work and background in Psychology, Sociology and Education. I believe that every individual has innate strengths and my goal is to help you tap into yours. Whether you are in a difficult life transition, navigating healthy relationships, or looking to understand yourself more deeply, I am here to empower you so that you can move from feeling "stuck" to feeling capable.
Outside of the therapy room, I am a proud mom and dedicated reader. As someone who identifies as a lifelong learner, I will bring curiosity and warmth to every session. In addition to my private practice, I am a crisis clinician. This background has sharpened my ability to remain grounded, and provide a safe, stable space even when a situation may feel the most chaotic.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward meaningful, lasting change. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I strive to create a safe space where individuals feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported.
I am a highly skilled therapist with a strong focus on trauma therapy, substance abuse, and mental health. I hold dual licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and as an Associate Clinical Counselor. My educational background includes a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from William Jessup University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development from California State University, Chico.
Chenda Dyck is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She's in the final stretch of her PhD in Marital and Family Therapy, and she finished her master's at Fresno State back in 2016.
Chenda was born in Ratanakiri, in Cambodia's northern highlands. Families there hold together through a lot, and she watched how that works long before she had any language for it. She arrived in the U.S. in 2003, sponsored by an adoptive American family. What she learned in those years is the thing she still builds her practice on — that one safe relationship can redirect an entire life.
Her work centers on Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), grounded in systemic and attachment theory and carried by a social-justice lens. Diverse, multiracial, and immigrant families are where she does her best work — families managing cultural pressure and emotional strain at once. In session and in supervision, she holds to the same standards: respect for culture, honesty about feelings, and the relationship kept at the center.
I’m a licensed therapist in California with 7 years of professional experience, supporting clients through life’s challenges, including anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, and major life transitions.
Whether you’re navigating change, building confidence, or seeking support, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and strength. Taking the first step can be hard, and I’m proud of you for starting.
When life feels heavier than it should—when your relationship is strained, the path to parenthood feels painful, parenting feels overwhelming, divorce leaves you untethered, or success at work still leaves you feeling stuck—you don’t have to sort through it alone. In addition to working with couples and individuals, I work with startup founders/executives/corporate professionals to drive better outcomes in their professional and personal lives. I offer a warm, collaborative space to help you heal, grow, and create meaningful change. I also support women who are going through infertility.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Postpartum Therapist in Long Beach
Searching for postpartum therapists in Long Beach starts with finding someone whose training matches the support you want. Postpartum concerns can include postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, birth-related stress, identity shifts, and relationship strain. As you compare therapists, look for listed experience in perinatal mental health, maternal mental health, or support for new parents. A certification such as PMH-C can also signal specialized training in perinatal mental health care.
In Long Beach, practical fit can matter as much as clinical focus. New parents may need flexible scheduling, virtual appointments, or an office location that works with infant care, physical recovery, and changing routines. Virtual care can expand your options beyond nearby offices while still connecting you with therapists licensed in California. Before booking, read therapist bios for details on postpartum experience, session style, availability, and whether they offer a free phone consultation.
Therapy in Long Beach can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for postpartum therapists who are accepting new patients, review detailed profiles, verify insurance, and see estimated out-of-pocket costs before you book. You can compare fit, schedule, and coverage in one place, then book directly when you’re ready.
