Hi! My name is Shawn and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Texas with a passion for providing a high quality of services to individuals struggling with mental health disorders. I earned my Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wayland Baptist University in 2009 and have worked diligently in the mental health field since that time.

I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a Master's Degree in Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I spent the beginning of my career in mental health working at an MHMR, as well as working with those struggling with addiction and eating disorders.

I believe therapy should be tailored to each client individually as it is not a “one size fits all" solution. Whether or not you have a “diagnosis”, therapy is incredibly important and is a space where you get to talk about your everyday stressors or your major traumas. It’s up to you. I am dual licensed in Texas and New York.

I am a board-certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I've worked in different practice settings, including private practice, community mental health, homeless and correctional services, and addiction. I treat and manage a range of disorders ( depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, PTSD, OCD, addictions, etc).

As someone in recovery myself, I understand how heavy addiction can feel. Sometimes we just need someone to sit in the pit with us while we gather the strength to climb out. What keeps me going are the goals that I set after I got out of my own pit. I built a life I love. When I'm not in my office, I'm probably out collecting comic book memorabilia, working on a project on my house, teaching my dogs about the importance of boundaries, or watching Jurassic Park. What keeps you going?

I have two graduate degrees in the field (Behavioral Medicine/Health Psychology and Professional Counseling) and am a licensed behavioral health clinician in both Texas & California. My experience includes working with individuals and groups with a wide range of mental health, substance use, and basic counseling issues. I believe we all need help at points of our life and, if we are willing to ask for it, the support and guidance can be invaluable.

Change can occur but I want to empower you to accept what you cannot change and come up with an effective plan to change what you can!

I graduated with my Masters of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University in 2014 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I have worked with clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings and specialize in therapeutic approaches for adults (18+) experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress and life-adjustment issues, and relational stressors. I offer both in-person and telehealth options for sessions.
