I've become very familiar with many aspects of the mental health field. I work with motivated clients willing to take responsibility for becoming well and happy.
My passion has always been helping marriages, families, and relationship. For the past 20+ years, I have specialized in marital relationships, helping people to build the relationships that they truly desire.
You don't have to be in crisis to deserve a space to heal. As a bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist with 23 years of experience, I provide a warm, practical space for children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, anger, and grief. Together, we’ll use real-world tools to reframe negative thoughts and manage strong emotions—moving at your pace, in whichever language feels most like home.
I am 55 years old with 26 years of professional experience. My approach can be very genuine, direct, and honest and while I may not always tell you "what you want to hear," I will provide feedback based on what is best to hear to help improve your insight into your problems. My therapy style may not be for everyone. If you are ready to make changes and are seeking honesty, logic, and a solution focused approach then I may be a good fit for you.
I received both my Bachelors and Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. I have been in private practice for more than 10 years. Prior to private practice, my career began as an inpatient therapist on locked units at psychiatric facilities Cambridge Hospital (currently Sun Behavioral Hospital) and West Oaks Hospital. In addition to my inpatient work at West Oaks Hospital, I was a group facilitator with both adolescents and adults for the outpatient extension of the hospital: The Excel Center. My work at The Excel Center involved daily group therapy in both the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
Because of my work with the acute psychiatric population in intensive treatment settings, I am able to work as a generalist practitioner. I work with most issue from depression, anxiety, and OCD to trauma, addiction and relationships struggles... just to name a few.
Empowering Growth Through Compassionate, Personalized Therapy
Welcome to Free Your Mind Counseling, where healing meets authenticity. My practice is founded on the belief that every individual deserves a safe and supportive space to heal, grow, and thrive. I provide personalized, culturally responsive therapy for trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions—grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration.
I specialize in existential, eclectic, and integrative therapies, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, and Experiential frameworks. This flexible, holistic approach allows me to meet clients where they are—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually—rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method.
My academic foundation includes a Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Juvenile Justice. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and bring over a decade of experience in the criminal justice system, substance use recovery programs, and diverse mental health settings.
I am also completing my Doctoral degree at Houston Christian University in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, majoring in Executive Mental Health and Human Services—a reflection of my commitment to advancing mental health leadership and community impact.
My philosophy centers on helping clients discover purpose, balance, and self-acceptance through integrative, trauma-informed care. I believe in engaging deeply—not just listening, but empowering transformation. My mission is to create a nonjudgmental space where healing isn’t just possible—it’s expected.
