My name is Marilee Melendez and I have been practicing for almost 5 years. I received my bachelors in Psychology from Texas Tech University and my masters in Counseling from University of Texas Permian Basin. As a first generation Mexican-American I deeply connect with how our cultural backgrounds affect our lives. I provide therapy in both Spanish and English. I have experience with trauma, immigration documentation, LGBTQ+, couples, children, adolescent, and adults.
I’m a caring clinical social worker with 25 years of experience helping people develop coping skills to navigate life’s ups and downs. I’m dedicated to creating relationships that provide a safe space for growth and change. I’m passionate about exploring the whole person, considering how our physical, mental, and emotional health connect with our social surroundings, environment, and sense of purpose in life.
Throughout the past two decades, I have dedicated my career to working with young individuals and their families within the educational environment, serving as both an educator and a school counselor. Currently, I hold the position of a licensed professional counselor, where I continue to support and guide individuals on their journeys.
My academic credentials were earned at Stephen F. Austin State University, where I developed a strong foundation in counseling principles and practices. I am deeply passionate about empowering individuals to discover their purpose, experience healing, and embrace their true identity in Christ. My commitment to supporting the personal and spiritual growth of those I work with is at the core of my professional philosophy.
What I most want to impress upon you all is that I myself, have over 210 hours on the couch. I have been engaged in my own inner work since 2013. I continue and plan to always dig deeper within to extract every inch of meaning that is possible to obtain on this journey of life to leave this world a little better than I found it.
