I became an LCSW after starting my career as a community-based social worker, supporting individuals and families navigating complex, real-life challenges. That work taught me the value of showing up with presence, respect, and a deep understanding of the systems that impact people’s lives.
My path to becoming a therapist was also shaped by my own experiences with healing and growth. I know what it’s like to do the inner work—to sit with discomfort, learn new tools, and slowly build something stronger from within. That personal insight informs how I show up in the therapy room: with empathy, curiosity, and compassion.
Motherhood has further deepened my approach. It’s taught me about vulnerability, patience, and the ongoing process of becoming—qualities I carry into my work with clients. I believe healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in safe, supportive relationships, and I’m honored to offer that space to others.
I work best with driven people experiencing a big change. Perhaps, despite your best efforts, things aren’t working out as you’d hoped. Or perhaps you’ve gotten all you wanted and it doesn’t satisfy. I work often with D1 athletes & pros (as well as their family members). I love supporting the romantic partners of people in the public eye. Though I often work with athletes I am not a Sports Psych. In fact, I don’t even follow sports! I’m here for the rest of your life and identity.
If you're in the thick of perimenopause or menopause and feel like you don't quite recognize yourself anymore — the mood swings, the anxiety that came out of nowhere, old wounds resurfacing you thought you'd dealt with — you're not imagining it, and you're not alone in it.
I'm a licensed professional counselor (LPC-MHSP) in Tennessee with a master's in clinical mental health counseling and training in EMDR, DBT, CBT, EFT, and Motivational Interviewing. I work with women navigating this specific transition, helping you understand what's happening beneath the surface so we can do the deeper work — not just manage symptoms, but actually get to what's underneath them.
I bring experience from private practice, clinical roles in group practice, and residential treatment work at for substance abuse.
I get it—feeling stuck in the same old patterns, craving deeper connections, and wondering how to even begin to break free can be exhausting. If you’re anything like the people I work with (and honestly, like I once was myself), you’ve probably spent a lot of time thinking, “Something has to change... but what?” That’s where I come in.
Hello! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in the southeast United States. I received my Masters from Asbury Seminary and my Bachelors from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and have been practicing in the mental health world for 11 years. I have worked in several settings from crisis work with kids and adolescents to individual work with adults to couples counseling.
Feeling overwhelmed by pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, or the many transitions of life? Struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, relationships, or coping with chronic illness? Experiencing infidelity, feeling disconnected, stuck, or lacking trust and intimacy with your partner? Or hey, maybe you’re just really freaking tired from carrying it all.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
I’m Destinee, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) therapist providing compassionate, trauma-informed virtual therapy to clients across Tennessee. I specialize in perinatal and postpartum mental health, LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, and culturally sensitive care tailored to your unique identity and experience.
As a PMH-C therapist, I also offer support to adults, teens, and couples navigating depression, anxiety, life transitions, chronic illness, identity, trauma, stress, grief, infidelity and relationship challenges. With years of experience in psychiatric hospitals, medical settings like the PICU and NICU, private practice, schools, and grief support groups, I bring a well-rounded, expert approach to your mental health care.
My couples counseling is self-pay only, at a rate of $170.
I’m the kind of therapist who shows up as a real person first. I’m warm, honest, and deeply committed to helping you feel safe enough to be yourself. I have experience working with people navigating stress, relationship challenges, emotional ups and downs, and life transitions. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and genuinely supported.
I have over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy across a wide range of settings, including acute and non-acute mental health, residential treatment, and outpatient care. Throughout my career, I've worked with adults, adolescents, individuals, and couples facing everything from everyday life stressors to more complex emotional and psychological challenges.
While I work with a broad range of concerns, I have particular interests in relationship counseling using the Gottman Method, chronic pain utilizing Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), addiction, borderline personality disorder using DBT, and anxiety-related disorders. I also frequently help clients navigate life transitions, relationship difficulties, parenting, work stress, panic, and general emotional well-being.
One thing that deeply shapes my work is a genuine curiosity about the human condition. I believe every person's story makes sense when we take the time to understand it. Rather than viewing people through the lens of a diagnosis alone, I strive to understand the experiences, relationships, beliefs, and circumstances that have shaped who they are. I see therapy as a collaborative process of exploration, insight, and meaningful change.
