Stress, anxiety, panic, trauma, or depression taking away your peace? You don’t have to keep feeling stuck, defeated, or disconnected from the life you want. After a decade as a chiropractor helping people with back and joint pain, I discovered a powerful pattern: unresolved emotional pain can affect us physically, mentally, and emotionally. That realization led me to counseling—and to a passion for helping people heal from the inside out. I work with concerns including anxiety, trauma, ADHD, addiction, mood disorders, chronic pain, codependency, phobias, and women’s issues.
I know life can be really challenging at times. It’s not always easy. As one journeys through life, there comes a time when we all need the love and support of someone who cares. For this reason, it has always been my passion to help those who are in need of that love and support. With a non-judgmental attitude and a heart of compassion I aim to meet you where you are. My hope is to walk alongside you in an effort to help you achieve your therapeutic goals
I look forward to working with you! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Chemical Addictions Specialist with 20 plus years of experience in providing mental health treatment.
I believe healing begins when you feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with an emphasis on creating a space where you can explore your experiences without judgment.
I specialize in working with adults navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the lasting impact of difficult or overwhelming experiences. I recognize that our past experiences, relationships, identities, and environments can shape how we see ourselves and move through the world.
My therapeutic style balances warmth and support with thoughtful challenge. Rather than simply helping you manage symptoms, we will work together to understand the patterns beneath them, strengthen coping skills, and address experiences that may be keeping you from moving forward.
I integrate evidence-based and trauma-focused approaches, including EMDR, while tailoring treatment to your individual needs, goals, and readiness. You set the pace, and we work collaboratively toward meaningful and sustainable change.
Whether you're beginning therapy for the first time, returning after time away, or ready to work more deeply on longstanding concerns, my goal is to provide a supportive environment where you can heal, reconnect with yourself, and create a life that feels more aligned with who you are becoming..
I'm Janna Williams, and my path to becoming a therapist is anything but traditional — and I think that's exactly what makes me effective. After 30 years with the State of North Carolina, I retired and did what most people wouldn't: I started over. I became a mobile crisis team responder, showed up for people in their hardest moments, and discovered exactly where I was meant to be. I hold a degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from UNC Charlotte (Go Niners! 🤘) and earned my Master of Social Work from UNC Pembroke in 2022 (Go Braves! 🏹). My background spans the judicial system, child welfare, substance use, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention — which means I've seen a lot, and very little surprises or intimidates me. I'm here with you at Greater Vision Counseling Services, Southern Pines, and I am genuinely honored to be part of your story.

Find the right therapist for you
Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Burlington
Searching for therapists in Burlington starts with knowing what kind of support you want. You may be looking for help with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, work stress, or life transitions. As you compare therapists, look for specialties, approaches, and experience that match your needs. A therapist’s profile can show whether they use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care, and how they describe their work with people seeking similar support.
Burlington is a smaller city, so local in-person therapy options may vary by neighborhood, schedule, and specialty. Virtual appointments can expand your choices while still connecting you with a therapist licensed in North Carolina. As you narrow your search, consider whether a therapist is accepting new patients, offers appointment times that fit your calendar, and provides a free phone consultation. Reading bios before booking can help you understand each therapist’s communication style, session structure, and areas of focus.
Therapy in Burlington can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you find therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, shows estimated out-of-pocket costs before you book, and lets you schedule directly when you’re ready.
