I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who holds a master’s degree in nursing from Frontier Nursing University. As an independent practitioner I can diagnose and treat mental health conditions with full prescriptive authority and order diagnostic labs as appropriate. With nearly 15 years of nursing experience, my passion for patient and family-centered care has evolved from working the on the front lines as an ICU RN during the covid-19 pandemic to addressing the mental health crisis impacting all of our communities as a nurse practitioner.
My name is Gabby and I started my career with Child Protective Services in my 20s, jump starting my education in legal, education, therapy substance use and other topics that I have continued to study. After leaving CPS, I began by Master in Social Work where I began work at a non-profit supporting families that adopted through the foster care system. After getting a Masters in Social Worker, I moved to Colorado and began working at a Eating Disorder Center. From there, I have spent four years working in psychiatric hospitals leading countless group therapy session and meeting with clients individually. Hi, I’m Sarah Stewart, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and founder of Pelorus Point — a practice dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s transitions with clarity and confidence. I am licensed in Florida, Idaho, Utah, and North Dakota, and bring over 11 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples.
My background includes a Master’s in Counseling Psychology and ongoing doctoral studies in Psychology, where my research focuses on language, identity, and inclusive mental health practices. My approach to therapy is eclectic and collaborative, blending elements of psychodynamic, narrative, and mindfulness-based work to create a space that fits you rather than forcing you into a specific model.
I specialize in working with clients navigating ADHD, dissociative disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, gender identity exploration, religious trauma, and relationship issues. My style is direct, grounded, and compassionate — I’m not afraid to challenge unhelpful patterns, but I always do so with respect and curiosity.
At Pelorus Point, my mission is simple: to help you find your true north — to better understand yourself, strengthen your relationships, and move toward a life that feels authentic and meaningful.
Life often throws us into unpredictable, high-stress environments—and navigating those challenges can feel like an intense journey of its own. If you are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or carrying the weight of trauma, you don't have to navigate the trail alone.
I specialize in working with individuals who operate in high-stress, high-consequence roles—including military service members, veterans, first responders, and healthcare professionals. Whether you are dealing with critical incident stress, chronic burnout, or complex trauma, I provide a grounded, practical space tailored to the unique culture and demands of your work.
My approach is deeply informed by years of hands-on experience in high-stakes settings. After starting my career as a Wilderness EMT in 2016 and enlisting in the Army National Guard in 2018, I earned my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from Utah State University. Since then, I’ve served as a Behavioral Health Officer in the National Guard and worked across emergency departments, crisis and disaster response, public education, and outpatient mental health.
Using evidence-based, trauma-informed therapies, my goal is to help you process difficult experiences, build sustainable resilience, and regain a sense of balance. Outside of the clinic, you’ll find me teaching CPR and Wilderness First Aid, spending time with my family, and finding adventure outdoors—a mindset I bring into therapy as we work together to help you thrive, no matter what environment you're navigating.
