Since therapy is about you, I will offer a little about myself. I was born and raised in rural Appalachia. My dad was a steel worker and a solid human being. He was the coach of my little league baseball team and taught me everything about nature. My mom however, was the one who inspired me to become a therapist. She never went to school for psychology, but she was one of the most naturally astute observers of human behavior I have ever known. She had an innate ability to truly see people, and they were drawn to her because of it. Her greatest gift was her discernment: she knew exactly when someone needed a silent, supportive ear and when they needed a practical problem solver. She always gave people precisely what they were seeking, and watching her transform lives just by listening is what made me want to do the same.

Great day to you! I am Kim Rodgers, LICSW (15yrs.). To complete my Master’s of Social Work Degree, I served as a school counselor for grades K-9. Since then, I have worked in Corrections, the Homeless Department and the Vet Center (within the Federal Government), in a Behavioral Health Hospital, and in Community Health. Psychotherapy provides a safe place to discuss fears, thoughts, and difficult decisions we as humans must make during our journey in life. I believe we are capable of making life changes with the right tools. I am here to listen without judgement. I believe we all have a story to share. Being heard is one of the most important aspects of communication.
My passion is working with clients who have experienced some form of trauma in their lives. By sharing your story, we can begin to process the trauma from experience to a new understanding, while remaining in the present.
I have a Master's degree in Psychology. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. I am also a Child Mental Health Specialist with a background in teaching. My specialty is childhood trauma, (children and adults), grief and PTSD Nero divergent individuals such as ADHD, OCD, Autism spectrum
I enjoy learning about ways we can change and understand our human existence. We are thinking, feeling and doing beings. Cognitive behavioral therapy provides a framework to identify ways to do it differently and better. Trauma treatment modalities like EMDR may support processing neurological and physiological reactions and being able to feel secure and safe while staying connected to others more fully. Our story is just that; we write it and edit it. We get to choose the chapters and path of our lives, through the unknowns, mysteries and celebrations.
I am a board‐certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a doctorate in psychiatric mental health, and I believe healing begins when you feel understood, supported, and empowered in your own care. I treat children, adolescents, and adults, and I work to create a calm, welcoming space where you can show up as you are and feel genuinely seen—not just your symptoms.
