Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming. I aim to create a safe, collaborative, and grounded space from the beginning. I meet clients where they are and move at a pace that feels manageable and respectful.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, trauma, addiction, and relationship challenges. I also specialize in complex and developmental trauma.

I support clients in integrating their spiritual and cultural values into therapy when desired and clinically appropriate. I was born in New Orleans and bring a culturally informed perspective shaped by my Latina, Indigenous, Christian, and Sephardic Jewish backgrounds.

I became a therapist because I have a deep commitment to helping people recognize and build their own strengths, especially during periods of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. I understand that seeking support takes courage, and I work to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the process.

I earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) and PhD from Tulane University, as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Louisiana and Texas, and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota. I also hold a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Prevention Professional (LPP), and Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP).

Hi, I’m Stephen. I work with people who feel overwhelmed, pulled in too many directions, or stuck in cycles of anxiety and depression. Many of my clients are juggling work, relationships, and health while struggling to be kind to themselves. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, regain balance, and reconnect with what matters most.

I believe you deserve support that meets you with compassion and respect. Seeking therapy can feel intimidating, but it’s also a powerful step toward healing and growth. My goal is to help you feel supported as you work through the habits, patterns, and stressors that have been holding you back.

Find the right addiction counselor for you

Headway makes it easier to find support for overcoming addiction — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.

Factors to Consider When Choosing an Addiction Therapist in Laredo, TX

Searching for addiction therapists in Laredo starts with finding someone whose experience matches the kind of support you want. Addiction care can include support for alcohol use, drug use, nicotine dependence, gambling, or other behavioral patterns. Some therapists use approaches like motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy for substance use, or harm reduction-informed care. Some people may also work with a prescriber as part of their care team, so it helps to review each therapist’s listed specialties and approach before booking.

In a mid-size city like Laredo, you may find a mix of local therapy offices and virtual appointments across Texas. Virtual care can expand your options if nearby appointment times, commute, or schedule fit matter. As you compare therapists, look at whether they are accepting new patients, offer appointment times that work for you, and provide a free phone consultation. Reading bios can also help you understand how a therapist discusses addiction care, including whether they mention non-judgmental support, relapse prevention, or harm reduction frameworks.

Therapy in Laredo can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find therapists who match your needs, lets you check insurance coverage based on your plan and location, and shows estimated out-of-pocket costs before you book. You can browse addiction therapists in Laredo, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.

If you or someone you know is experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms — especially from alcohol or benzodiazepines — talk to a medical provider or seek emergency care before starting outpatient therapy. If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction or substance use and is in a crisis, immediately reach out to:

* 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988 * SAMHSA National Helpline — 1-800-662-HELP (4357), free, confidential, 24/7 * Crisis Text Line — text HOME to 741741
