My professional background includes working for many years in a large hospital Emergency Department as well as in private psych clinic practice. With my medical and psych training as a Registered Nurse as well as Social Worker I am able to focus on the total person. Some specific treatment areas that I have experience in are trauma, gay/Lesbian/Bisexual, depression and First Responders crisis issues as well as grief/death situations.
I approach therapy with respect, curiosity, and a bit of humor. I offer trauma-informed care which has led me to work with people who have gone through hard times and survived. I earned my master’s degree from Michigan State University and have stayed in the East Lansing area since then, working in local residential treatment facilities for teens and in an outpatient intensive treatment program with adults. I have spent the last 15 years working with adults in crisis, whether that is temporary situations like relationship issues or more chronic conditions.
I have been doing this work since 2009 — which means I have sat with a lot of people through a lot of different kinds of hard. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling with a dual focus in professional counseling and marriage and family therapy, and my career has moved through two distinct chapters that have shaped how I practice. The first half was spent in the world of substance use — working with individuals and families where the stakes were high and the complexity was real. The last several years have been in private practice, where I've worked with the full range of human struggle: depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, substance use disorders, parenting stress, and the disorienting moments when life shifts beneath your feet. I work with individuals, couples, and groups. Very few things surprise me at this point — and that's exactly what makes this work feel safe.
I’m a Licensed Social Worker with a deep commitment to helping individuals heal from trauma, navigate grief, and find safety and strength within themselves. My clinical focus is on trauma recovery, including PTSD and complex PTSD, as well as those experiencing loss and grief (both loss of a loved one and also disenfranchised grief).

I earned a MS in Behavioral Psychology and a Psy.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University (formerly California School of Professional Psychology). Over the years I have had experience working with various populations with diverse psychological problems. I have expertise in working with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, substance use problems, grief/loss, and couples and family therapy. Within my work, I have experienced successful outcomes in improving people's lives both individually and relationally- within the most meaningful relationships in their lives.
