Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work that is passionate about supporting women, teens, and those who are navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, family and relationship issues, low self-esteem, and life stressors. Perhaps you who have not felt like yourself or have not found your voice due to everyone else having a say about your life choices. I believe that healing begins in a space where you feel heard, understood, and genuinely supported. With nine years experience and through lived experience, my work focuses on helping you manage those concerns, as I have worked with multiple populations including children, teens, and adults.
I've built my career around sitting with people through some of life's hardest moments — it's work I still find deeply meaningful. I'm Susan, a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with an MSW from the University of Michigan, offering telehealth therapy to adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout Michigan. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, bipolar disorder, borderline personality, and more — bringing a strengths-based lens to every session.
I have been doing this work since 2009 — which means I have sat with a lot of people through a lot of different kinds of hard. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling with a dual focus in professional counseling and marriage and family therapy, and my career has moved through two distinct chapters that have shaped how I practice. The first half was spent in the world of substance use — working with individuals and families where the stakes were high and the complexity was real. The last several years have been in private practice, where I've worked with the full range of human struggle: depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, substance use disorders, parenting stress, and the disorienting moments when life shifts beneath your feet. I work with individuals, couples, and groups. Very few things surprise me at this point — and that's exactly what makes this work feel safe.
I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Michigan, and I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Many of the people I support are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, identity questions, or the quiet pressure of holding everything together without feeling seen.
I work with men, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, neurodivergent adults, and people of color, particularly those who feel misunderstood or overlooked. Therapy is a place to slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been pushed aside over time.
I'm so glad you're here! While I look forward to hearing more about you, here's a bit about me...Sara Blomeling DeRoo LCSW/LMSW is a clinical therapist with extensive experience in dealing with issues of adjustment, grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, adoption and parenting. She has worked as a trauma -informed clinician in private practice, leadership positions in child welfare, and juvenile justice as well as other fields of practice. Sara also specializes in working with diverse populations and is an avid supporter and champion of social justice issues.
Sara originally hails from Michigan and is an adoptee, adoptive parent, and former foster parent. She is an author and musician in her spare time and is enjoying her new home in sunny Florida.
I hold two clinical credentials: an LPC and a QIDP — a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional — which means my clinical training extends across a wide range of presentations, and I bring that breadth to every client I see.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, maternal mental health, infertility, grief, relationship stress, and the complicated emotions that come with life transitions like divorce and parenthood. I believe you already have the strengths to get through this — my job is to help you find and build on them.
My style is laid back and warm, with a sense of humor that tends to take the edge off. You deserve a therapist you can actually talk to, and I take that seriously.
I have been doing this work for over 20 years now, and I look forward to working with you!

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Saginaw
Searching for therapists in Saginaw starts with knowing what kind of support fits your needs. You may be looking for help with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, stress, or a major life change. As you compare Saginaw therapists, look for someone whose listed specialties and approach match what you want to focus on. Their profile can show whether they use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or trauma-informed care, and help you understand what sessions may be like.
In a smaller city like Saginaw, local therapist availability may vary, so virtual care can expand your options across Michigan. You may prefer an in-person office near Downtown, Carrollton, or another nearby area, or you may want the added flexibility of virtual appointments from home. Beyond location and format, consider appointment times, whether the therapist is accepting new patients, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Reading therapist bios before booking can help you compare communication style, areas of focus, and what each therapist highlights about their work.
Therapy in Saginaw can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for Michigan therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, verify your coverage, and see your estimated out-of-pocket cost before booking. You can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready.
