She is passionate about optimal health in her professional and personal life and draws from a rich history of eastern philosophies and western science to meet the needs of her clients.
I believe that therapy is a journey that first begins with the courage to heal. Therapy should be a safe place to heal, discover, grow, and find moments of selah--which means to pause and reflect. The following quote sums up what I believe the healing process looks like: “Life is like an onion; you peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep” (Carl Sandburg).
I am originally from Connecticut but have lived in Florida for over 24 years. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a minor in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University and my Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Connecticut.
My graduate school experience included working with clients dealing with schizophrenia in an in-patient hospital and working with Catholic Family Services, where I provided therapeutic services to clients ranging from adolescence to adulthood. Since then, I’ve worked in private practice using person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and some EMDR techniques.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have spent the last eight years working with “at-risk” children and adolescents, referred by the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Diversion programs. I currently work with the Genesis Women’s Clinic assisting antepartum and postpartum moms suffering from Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder, the Family Care Clinic providing Behavioral Therapy to families and adults, and the Pediatric Clinic at TGH Healthpark.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Fort Lewis College, a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Social Science from the University of South Florida, and a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from USF. Factors to Consider When Choosing a Postpartum Therapist in Fort Lauderdale
Finding postpartum therapists in Fort Lauderdale starts with knowing what kind of support fits your needs. Postpartum concerns can include postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, birth-related stress, identity shifts, and relationship strain. As you compare therapists, look for listed experience with perinatal mental health, postpartum depression counseling, or postpartum anxiety. A Perinatal Mental Health Certification, often listed as PMH-C, can also signal specialized training in pregnancy and postpartum care.
Fort Lauderdale has a range of therapy options, and practical fit matters alongside clinical experience. New parents may need appointment times that work around infant care, physical recovery, feeding schedules, or shifting routines. Virtual therapy can make it easier to meet with a postpartum depression therapist or therapist for postpartum anxiety from home, while in-person care may work better for people who prefer a local office setting. Read therapist bios to compare specialties, approach, availability, and whether a free phone consultation is offered before booking.
Therapy in Fort Lauderdale can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care starts. Headway helps you find postpartum therapists who are accepting new patients, review detailed bios, check your insurance, and see estimated costs upfront. You can browse therapists, compare fit, and book directly when you’re ready.
