I'm a licensed psychologist working with adults navigating trauma, loss, identity exploration, life transitions, and emotional challenges related to anxiety, depression, and OCD. My training spans across a range of settings, including inpatient psychiatric care, community mental health, psychological assessment, and individual therapy. My approach is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based interventions.
I have over a decade of experience in the Mental Health field with a substantial history in substance use counseling, working with individuals who were incarcerated. Females with co-occurring disorders in a controlled environment. I moved to working with an exclusive male population, where I assisted them to gain skills to overcome life's difficulties. As I, myself, gained skills and knowledge I moved into working with those within my community seeking services. I helped people seeking individual services as well as leading group counseling sessions which has always been a part of my therapeutic styles.
Working with competency restoration, probation and parolees gave me a guided sense of purpose and a knowledge of the law.
I have also worked with trauma informed care, military and those seeking a better way of life. I have worked with individuals within the TDCJ system. In my journey I have worked with those that deal with unforeseen life challenges, whether through a life choice or an unimaginable circumstance. My focus has always been on helping.
My name is Ammar Nazarali, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I received my Master’s in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington and have over five years of experience providing therapy in private practice and working as a school social worker, where I provided therapy and support to students. I was born and raised in the United States as a second-generation immigrant with roots in East Africa and India. My background has given me a personal appreciation for how culture, identity, and belonging can shape the way we understand ourselves, our experiences, and our relationships.
I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and families who want to gain deeper insight, heal from the past, and create positive change in their lives. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or significant life transitions, I’m here to help you uncover your resilience and empower you to move forward with confidence. I see my role as both a guide and a partner, helping you tap into your own strengths and resources to make lasting changes.
- I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing concerns such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, substance use, and panic symptoms. My background in inpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, addiction recovery, and geriatric mental health has shaped the way I understand mental health from both a clinical and whole-person perspective. I want my clients to feel respected, heard, and actively involved in their care.
Are you in the blame game? Do you blame yourself for events and circumstances beyond your circle of control and influence? You’re one of the millions of people so trapped!
Counseling help is available for you- as a parent, a teenager, young adult, couple, or whatever category that defines your person. As your counselor, your mental health journey is mine. You have POWER within YOU. Utilizing your past experience as a steppingstone to overcome all obstacles.
BELIEVE!!!
Let the journey begin.
I believe that struggles with mental health can make us feel like we’re on the outside looking in — different, misunderstood, or even broken.
Many of the people I work with identify as the “black sheep” in their families or communities — thoughtful, self-aware, but carrying more than they should have to on their own.
My goal is to help you shift how you see those experiences. What feels like a weakness or flaw often has the potential to become a source of strength, insight, and growth.
I specialize in working with people who feel like they don’t quite fit in.
