My philosophy as a social worker and therapist is simple: we are not defined by our diagnoses. Over the past eight years, I have worked across various settings with teenagers, families, and individuals facing diverse challenges, from substance abuse and relationship struggles to developmental disabilities. I am deeply passionate about meeting people where they are at, using a human-centered approach that prioritizes your needs above all else.
Taking New Clients June 8th!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Horizon Within Counseling. I work with children, teens, adult, couples and families, helping navigate anxiety, stress, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I offer a warm, collaborative and solution-focused approach , using evidence-based practices including EMDR to help clients feel empowered, build resilience, and move forward with greater purpose and balance.
I get to know each client individually, so we can work collaboratively to come up with goals that we work toward at your pace, ebbing and flowing as your needs change. My clinical experience has included intensive in-home crisis stabilization therapy, complex trauma treatment, solution-focused brief therapy, and treatment of dual-diagnoses.
I moved to St. Louis, MO from Tampa, FL in 2019 to study Social Work at Washington University, and chose to make a home here with my spouse, child, and pets. I spend most of my leisure time cooking, gardening, reading, hiking, and going on crafting sprees. I also love to travel away from home, in search of grand museums and new foods.
I have over 20 years of experience in healthcare. My career began as a pharmacy technician, then as an emergency room nurse, and later supervising behavioral health units at Mercy St. Louis before becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This background allows me to understand mental health from both medical and psychiatric perspectives.
I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change, even when they feel stuck. I've always been drawn to understanding what makes people tick and what gets in the way of them living their best lives. I'm passionate about helping others improve their quality of life by providing a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, identify their strengths, and develop practical strategies for creating positive change. I see my role as a facilitator, guiding individuals on their own unique path to greater well-being and a sense of liberation from what holds them back.
I'm here to assist my clients to achieve goals and adapt coping skills by using client-focused tools which are evidence-based. I operate in the spirit of excellence and professionalism with everyone regardless of age, gender, race, social-economic status, or sexual identity. I will create a wellness plan specific to each client's individual needs.
