Hey I’m Julie, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a heart for helping. My therapeutic style is warm, eclectic, and collaborative—I’m here to work with you, not talk at you. Many of my clients are people navigating mood disorders, chronic stressors, and life transitions. I have experience working with BIPOC individuals, varying ages, those exposed to trauma, and those who are new to therapy.
It can be incredibly difficult to untie the emotional knots that complicate relationships, self-confidence, and understanding the past. Therapy is a safe opportunity to uncover these core issues and learn practical techniques that foster deeper insight. I believe that with this insight you can make meaningful, lasting changes.
Welcome, I am a Clinical Social Worker, I was born and raised in California and relocated to Maryland. I have a Masters in Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore and a Bachelors in Cultural Anthropology. It is my strong heritage as a Chicana that pushed me to find a career that would allow me to give back to my community by providing a culturally inclusive therapeutic space that encompasses diversity, healing, empowerment and instills value
As a therapist and social worker, I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. I understand that seeking therapy can feel vulnerable, and I value building authentic therapeutic relationships grounded in trust, compassion, and collaboration.
My approach is holistic, culturally responsive, and client-centered. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, burnout, self-esteem concerns, and emotional overwhelm. I also have a special interest in women’s mental health, including perinatal and postpartum mental health, identity development, and helping professionals manage burnout.
I believe therapy should feel like a space where you do not have to “have it all together.” Together, we will explore patterns, strengthen coping skills, improve communication, and work toward meaningful, sustainable growth at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Clients often describe me as compassionate, relatable, thoughtful, and easy to talk to. My goal is to help you feel supported while also challenged toward healing, self-awareness, and lasting change.
I have a double Master's and a Doctoral degree in psychology. I began my graduate study In NYC in 2006 doing research and clinical work in attachment theory both with young children and adults. It was there that I witnessed the impact of early and adult attachments. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a strong background in trauma-informed care, anxiety treatment, and grief work. I believe therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and respectful of your lived experience. I understand how past trauma, chronic stress, and life transitions can shape the nervous system and impact daily functioning, even when life looks “okay” on the outside. My role is to meet you where you are, without judgment, and help you make sense of your experiences while building practical tools for healing.
