Many people come to therapy carrying pain that is difficult to put into words. You may understand why you're struggling, yet still find yourself repeating the same patterns, feeling stuck in painful relationships, grieving losses, or wondering why lasting change feels out of reach. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, infertility, trauma, stress, family concerns, maternal mental health challenges, and life transitions. Many of my clients are thoughtful, insightful people who want more than temporary relief, they want to understand themselves more deeply and create meaningful, lasting change. Together, we'll explore the experiences, relationships, and emotional patterns that have shaped your life while building greater self-awareness and self-compassion. My goal is to help you gain clarity, strengthen your relationships, and create a life that feels more connected, purposeful, and authentic.

Hola, Soy Christina Zapata, mi pronombre es ella. Hello, I'm Christina Zapata, my pronouns are she and her. I am bilingual (English/Spanish), bi-and pan cultural. My professional training is in clinical social work. I started out in depth-oriented psychotherapy in 2012, moved to family work with foster and adoptive families in the middle part of my career and have returned to psychodynamic, systems-oriented psychotherapy with individuals and families since 2017. I have experience working with Transgender individuals, those in current or former relationships where intimate partner violence is present, foster and adopted youth, and Spanish speaking political and economic refugees and immigrants. More recently, I am adding to my practice work around supporting individuals who are experiencing stress and confusion in their workplace.

That inner pressure to be perfect or “have it all together” can be exhausting. Maybe your inner critic is loud, or you feel like you’re constantly falling short. Therapy is a space where you can take a break from that pressure, feel heard without judgment, and start to make sense of what’s going on inside.

You are the one everyone relies on - the strong one. Even when you’re running on empty, you keep showing up, holding it together, and pushing through. On the outside, you look composed. Inside, you might feel exhausted, unseen, or detached from yourself. I work with adults break free from patterns that keep them stuck in survival mode. We will work on reconnecting with your needs, rebuilding self trust, and creating a balanced, authentic relationship with yourself. I bring a compassionate, steady presence to therapy; no cold stares or awkward silences. Just a real human connection, where you can feel safe enough to show up. As a therapist for the past 9 years and someone who has navigated my own share of life’s complexities, I understand the invisible weight we often carry; anxiety, depression, expectations, and the pressure to hold everything together.
Choosing the right therapist is important, so I offer a free 15-20 minute phone or video consultation to discuss your needs and ensure we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure; this call is simply an opportunity for you to learn more and decide if you’d like to move forward with therapy. You may take your time after the call to decide whether to move forward.
