My style of therapy works best with those who are seeking healing that goes beyond just the symptoms. I want my clients to move toward a fuller life, that does not stop at just managing symptoms and moving on. Therapy can be scary and sometimes difficult, but there is hope! Therapy can also bring fullness and connection into your life. The therapeutic relationship is essential, and it is of primary concern in my work. I dedicate myself to assuring my clients feel safe to do the hard work to heal. If you are unhappy and seeking more from life, I believe I can help.
I specialize in religious trauma and grief, but can also work with a myriad of issues. I offer a safe place to bring your story and the interpersonal and professional skill to help you move through your pain. I focus much of my therapy on meaning-creation, values, and body-centered interventions.
I have spent much of my own time and finances to my own therapeutic work and believe strongly in the process. Our relationship is central and I understand how difficult it can be to open up to pain in the presence of another. You will find me to be empathetic, understanding, and open. Contact me and start your journey of healing and hope.
My interest in mental health began during my military service as a Survival Instructor in the United States Airforce. During this time, I had the privilege of teaching students from all walks of life the skills to survive in any environment. I became fascinated with human behavior, stress management/responses and the profound capabilities of the mind, body and spirit when faced with adversity. While navigating through the wilderness, a waypoint is defined as "a stop along ones journey." It is a safe place where the traveler can take shelter, rest, gain insight on where they've been, accept and honor where they are, and determine their way forward. It's a place for healing. This is what I strive to provide for my clients. I completed my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Northwestern University. I have experience counseling couples, teens, adult individuals, and groups. As an Airforce veteran, I have a passion for serving military members and their families. Other interests include working with blended families, and LGBTQ+ individuals and their parents
I have been practicing as a therapist for 3 years, with over 10 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked with both teens and adults facing issues with addiction, neurodivergence, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I strive to create a safe and judgement free zone where you can feel safe to bring your struggles. I am proud to be an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and welcome my clients to fully be themselves, no matter how you look, who you love, or what you feel.
Outside of the therapy space, I love to spend time outdoors whenever it's nice out. On a rainy day I'm happy to spend the day reading, crocheting, or playing a good video game. My dog can usually be found nearby, either hiking or swimming outside or taking a nap on her bed.
Since therapy is about you, I will offer a little about myself. I was born and raised in rural Appalachia. My dad was a steel worker and a solid human being. He was the coach of my little league baseball team and taught me everything about nature. My mom however, was the one who inspired me to become a therapist. She never went to school for psychology, but she was one of the most naturally astute observers of human behavior I have ever known. She had an innate ability to truly see people, and they were drawn to her because of it. Her greatest gift was her discernment: she knew exactly when someone needed a silent, supportive ear and when they needed a practical problem solver. She always gave people precisely what they were seeking, and watching her transform lives just by listening is what made me want to do the same.
I've been a Mental Health Therapist in private practice since 2012. I received my Master's degree in Seattle, WA and have been practicing in Walla Walla, WA since 2022. I love working with many different ages and demographics and like to keep an open mind and stance as we get to know one another.
Being a therapist is rewarding to me on many levels. I believe it's both my responsibility and privilege to join people where they are, whether they're struggling through a difficult life event, moving through a life transition, or grappling with their meaning and purpose. The relationship of trust we develop is one of the most important foundations to successful therapy. And it will be a primary value during our work together. People often describe me as warm and compassionate, with a grounding presence and gentle approach to the work. Alongside a little humor and challenging nudges towards growth.
Thank you for visiting my profile, I hope to be able to guide you along your mental health journey. For over ten years, I’ve specialized in the treatment of anxiety and depression, especially in the context of life transitions. I have an expertise in helping people who feel stuck and unhappy gain confidence, advance in their careers, and form healthy interpersonal relationships.
Great day to you! I am Kim Rodgers, LICSW (15yrs.). To complete my Master’s of Social Work Degree, I served as a school counselor for grades K-9. Since then, I have worked in Corrections, the Homeless Department and the Vet Center (within the Federal Government), in a Behavioral Health Hospital, and in Community Health. I have a great deal of “outreach work” experience, both personally and professionally.
Psychotherapy provides a safe place to discuss fears, thoughts, and difficult decisions we as humans must make during our journey in life. I believe we are capable of making life changes with the right tools. I am here to listen without judgement. I believe we all have a story to share. Being heard is one of the most important aspects of communication.
My passion is working with clients who have experienced some form of trauma in their lives. By sharing your story, we can begin to process the trauma from experience to a new understanding, while remaining in the present.
I have a Master's degree in Psychology. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. I am also a Child Mental Health Specialist with a background in teaching. My specialty is childhood trauma, (children and adults), grief and PTSD Nero divergent individuals such as ADHD, OCD, Autism spectrum
I enjoy learning about ways we can change and understand our human existence. We are thinking, feeling and doing beings. Cognitive behavioral therapy provides a framework to identify ways to do it differently and better. Trauma treatment modalities like EMDR may support processing neurological and physiological reactions and being able to feel secure and safe while staying connected to others more fully. Our story is just that; we write it and edit it. We get to choose the chapters and path of our lives, through the unknowns, mysteries and celebrations.
I have 30 years of counseling experience as a Navy Chaplain, Parish Pastor and Marriage and Family Therapist. My passion is to be in service to others, especially those most in need of mental health services. I work work with ethnically diverse populations; as an LMFT I focus on the systems that my clients live in, including (but not limited to) family, school, friends, DSHS, the juvenile justice system and the criminal justice system, work, friendship groups.
