Melinda is a trauma informed, Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia, with the Virginia Board of Counseling. She is also the owner of Triumphant Coaching & Counseling, LLC. Melinda graduated from Hampton University in 1991 with a B.A. in Sociology. She served in the Navy for 12 years as a Human Resource Officer, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. She acquired her master’s degree in human resource development in 2001, and she acquired her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling Degree from Nyack College, Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in New York City in 2014.

I have a wide range of experience in various clinical and therapeutic settings. I specialize in working with children and adults with depression/anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, serious mental illness, lgbtq+, crisis intervention, intellectual and developmental disabilities (including Autism Spectrum Disorders), as well as traumatic brain injuries. I primarily enjoy working best with youth or adults in individual therapy sessions. I am NOT currently accepting any new COUPLE THERAPY clients at this time.

Hello, I am a psychotherapist (LCSW) from the Hampton Roads area, born and raised. I like to help people get to where they want to be in life, no matter what it is. I obtained my masters degree from Norfolk State University, where I am currently an adjunct instructor. I specialize in mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, and depression.

I provide collaborative psychiatric care including diagnostic clarification, medication management, and support to stabilize symptoms of burnout, anxiety, depression, and stress-related concerns.

I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Maryland and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) licensed in Virginia and Maryland. I have worked in behavioral health for many years, with a particular focus on substance use, co-occurring mental health concerns, and trauma. My experience includes working with adults from diverse backgrounds and supporting individuals through residential, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care.

I genuinely enjoy helping people recognize strengths they may have forgotten they have. I believe that your diagnosis, substance use, trauma, or past experiences are only part of your story—they do not define who you are. I will meet you where you are and work with you to identify where you want to go next.
