Hi there! I have been a therapist for about 25 years (MSW- Western Michigan University). I feel grateful to have such meaningful work and honored to walk alongside such a variety of people on their journeys. My clients have described me as irreverent, honest, and caring.
Many folks come to therapy in times of crisis and others come because they are looking for a neutral place to talk and process a wide range of life experiences including trauma, anxiety/depression, substance concerns, and relationship issues.
In my non-work hours you'd find me spending time with my elementary age kiddo and our dog, listening to live music, swimming in Lake Michigan, or finishing up a good jigsaw puzzle!
My style is eclectic and strength based. I see human nature as intrinsically good. Sigmund Freud said we are bio-social animals. I believe a great deal in listening to one’s self talk. The more positive our dialogue with ourselves is, the more positive our dialogues with others and our lives are. I’m also experienced in CBT, DBT, MI, Solution Focused, ACT, Gestalt, Interpersonal, and person-centered counseling.
My training includes lots of wonderful supervision and workshops, a three-year certificate from the Gestalt Institute of Chicago, and two one month intensives with Virginia Satir, the founder of family therapy. Virginia taught that exploring the self is like mining gold. We all have gold inside of us. That is our basic goodness. A lot of emotional suffering is the result of being detoured from that basic goodness.
I approach therapy in a collaborative and compassionate way, creating a safe space where clients can feel supported as they explore their inner world. I believe that each client is the expert of their own life, and my role is to guide, support, and provide tools to help you connect with your strengths and insights. My work is trauma-informed and integrates a variety of techniques, including internal family systems, somatic methods, inner child work, strengths-based narratives, CBT, experiential approaches, and clinical hypnosis.
Hi! I’m Katie, and I’m a licensed psychotherapist helping people create a life they love. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in publishing at Penguin Random House and previously ran a jewelry line carried in over 250 stores nationwide. After earning my master’s from the Crown Family School of Social Work, I completed my clinical training at UChicago Medicine and LifePath Therapy Associates. Today, I use a combination of CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy to support C-suite executives, entrepreneurs, young professionals, writers, and anyone navigating uncertainty to create meaningful change.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Postpartum Therapist in Aurora
Searching for postpartum therapists in Aurora starts with finding someone whose training matches what you want support with. Postpartum concerns can include postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, birth-related stress, identity shifts, and relationship strain. As you compare therapists, look for listed experience in perinatal mental health, maternal mental health, or work with new parents. A PMH-C credential can also signal specialized training in perinatal care.
In Aurora, your options may include therapists with local offices, therapists who offer virtual sessions, or both. For new parents, virtual care can make appointments easier to fit around infant care, physical recovery, and changing schedules. You can also narrow your search by appointment availability, whether a therapist is accepting new patients, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading therapist bios can help you see how each person describes their style, specialties, and session structure before you book.
Therapy in Aurora can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs.
