Hi, and welcome! I am Joy Nnebe, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am thrilled you’re considering working with me.
I have 8 years of experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing, and I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, insomnia, trauma, and more, using approaches like CBT therapy and trauma-informed care. I aim to provide simple, non-judgmental, supportive, and personalized care to help you feel understood and empowered on your mental health journey.
I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported. My approach is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental, and I strive to create a space where you can be yourself. People often describe me as easy to talk to, and I believe that compassion—and even a little humor when appropriate—can make the healing process feel more comfortable. We'll work together to build on your strengths and help you create meaningful, lasting change.
Great to meet you!
I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist and have been practicing psychiatry since 2017. I work with adults from diverse backgrounds, including professionals, students, parents, women, men, and LGBTQ+ clients, who may be navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma/PTSD, insomnia, OCD, perinatal mental health, stress, or major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed. I offer psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, telehealth, and second opinions, with a focus on helping you feel heard, understood, and supported as we work toward meaningful change.
You can know exactly where something comes from and still feel completely stuck in it. That's often where the real work begins. I work with adults and seniors navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship patterns, eating disorders, and the weight of holding multiple cultural worlds at once. I offer sessions in both English and Farsi. I was born in Tehran and came to the United States as a child. That journey shapes how I show up for clients who are holding two worlds at once. Clients often describe me as thoughtful, unhurried, and genuinely curious about who they are.
After working 15+ years as an RN I am so excited to be making a difference as a provider of mental healthcare. Working from home allows me to offer better calendar flexibility to accommodate different schedules and to take care of my aging dogs at home!
I am compassionate and empathetic and here to help you reach your goals and become the best version of yourself.
During my training I worked primarily in community behavioral health. It is my goal to serve the community and provide support to those who need it while reducing barriers and stigmas that prevent people from getting the care they really need and deserve. Access is for everyone and I want to be a beacon of that message.
I have a certificate in Spanish for Healthcare Providers and as soon as I become a little more fluent I will be able to extend my services, accurately, into a second language.
I'm Ismail Al Huwaitat, PMHNP, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with more than 14 years of combined experience in ICU nursing and psychiatric practice. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I am passionate about providing compassionate, personalized care and building meaningful connections with the individuals I serve. I believe seeking mental health care is a courageous and deeply personal decision, and you deserve a provider who genuinely listens. I strive to create a compassionate, inclusive, and judgment-free space where every person feels welcomed, respected, and valued. You are more than a diagnosis or a set of symptoms. My goal is to meet you where you are, understand what matters most to you, and provide a space where you feel safe being yourself.
For the past year, I've worked with adults facing serious mental health challenges at one of Los Angeles's largest public health systems, and what I've learned is that lasting change comes from relationships built on trust. Now I'm bringing that experience into private practice, where I can focus on what matters most: your individual progress. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and I offer flexible evening and weekend availability via telehealth throughout California. As a PMHNP, I'm here to support your whole mental health journey.
Welcome! As a bilingual licensed therapist, I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges by providing emotional support and personalized coping tools. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, and work with the Spanish-speaking and LGBTQ community as well.
