My goal is to help clients alleviate suffering, boost their productivitiy, and enhance well-being.
I work in a collaborative process with older teens (15yrs old and above), couples, and individual adults who are motivated to find their inner voice and know their highest selves. Hola, Soy Christina Zapata, mi pronombre es ella. Hello, I'm Christina Zapata, my pronouns are she and her. I am bilingual (English/Spanish), bi-and pan cultural. My professional training is in clinical social work. I started out in depth-oriented psychotherapy in 2012, moved to family work with foster and adoptive families in the middle part of my career and have returned to psychodynamic, systems-oriented psychotherapy with individuals and families since 2017. I have experience working with Transgender individuals, those in current or former relationships where intimate partner violence is present, foster and adopted youth, and Spanish speaking political and economic refugees and immigrants. I am trained in EMDR. I have undertaken a three year grief training to help people stay connected to, sit with and move through pain. More recently, I am adding to my practice work around supporting individuals who are experiencing stress and confusion in their workplace.
I have vast experience with a wide variety of clients. My professional history includes children living in abusive environments, teenagers who are struggling to access their education due to mental health concerns, families navigating dysfunction and adults dealing with a variety of life difficulties.
I currently work, primarily, in corrections with inmates struggling to adjust to the custody environment. I offer crisis intervention in addition to ongoing support.
I approach the therapeutic space with compassion and openness. I meet my clients right where they are emotionally and in their healing journey.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Couples Therapist in Fremont, CA
Finding couples therapists in Fremont starts with knowing what you and your partner want to work on. Couples therapy, couples counseling, and marriage counseling can support concerns like communication breakdowns, repeated conflict patterns, trust after infidelity, major life transitions, and parenting disagreements. Not all therapists have the same training in couples work, so review each therapist’s listed specialties and background. You may want to look for a licensed marriage and family therapist, or a therapist trained in approaches like the Gottman Method or emotionally focused therapy.
In a mid-sized city like Fremont, the right fit may depend on both clinical experience and practical details. You may prefer an in-person office near home or work, while virtual sessions can give both partners more options when schedules, commute times, or childcare needs differ. As you compare couples therapy in Fremont, look at appointment availability, whether the therapist is accepting new clients, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. A therapist’s bio can also show how they structure couples sessions, what they focus on, and how they describe their communication style.
Couples therapy in Fremont can be a significant cost without insurance, and using in-network coverage is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, see estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking, and compare available appointments in one place. You can browse therapists, review bios, and book directly when you’re ready to find marriage counseling in Fremont, CA that matches your needs, schedule, and insurance plan.
If you're experiencing or worried about violence, threats, or coercion in your relationship, couples therapy isn't usually the right starting point — individual support is safer. The National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788\) can help you think through next steps.
