Hi, I’m Tomeker, a nationally certified counselor and a licensed professional counselor with a natural desire to help and support those I work with. I function from the person centered approach, acknowledging the patients ability to problem solve. I have been trained in EMDR and evidenced based practices to treat PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
I'm Michelle Smith — LPC, MA in Professional Counseling, and your biggest advocate before you've even said a word. I chose this work because I genuinely believe that every person who walks through the door carries something worth fighting for, and I want to be in your corner while you fight for it. I specialize in working with people who are anxious, exhausted, grieving, or just quietly wondering if things can ever feel different. Spoiler: they can. Whether you're carrying old wounds, navigating a hard season, or searching for something that feels like hope — I'm here for all of it. You have immense value and purpose, and my job is to help you remember that.
Thank you for taking the courageous step to reach out for help. I would be honored to work along side you on your journey towards personal growth and empowerment. I have over 28 years of experience in working in mental health. My experience includes private practice, Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, nonprofit, domestic violence, and substance abuse. I also spent 21 years in public education as a teacher, school counselor, and therapeutic counselor.
I have been a therapist for 13 years. My training is in Expressive Arts Therapy, Somatic Work and Systems Therapies. I have worked in a variety of settings from outdoor education to residential and IOP. Most of my background has been in supporting individuals or families with children with complex developmental needs and neurodiversity. I love working with folks of all ages and backgrounds and am an ally.
Personally, I love crafting, cooking, paddle boarding and traveling to National Parks with my husband and two small children.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me, and I look forward to knowing more about you!
