I have a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), working in private practice as a Psychotherapist. I live in Los Angeles, and work in-person or hybrid, with adults, teens, couples and the aging population. I specialize in anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, work stress/dissatisfaction, career goals, sleep disorders, substance use, trauma (ptsd/complex/acute), obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD/OCPD), attention deficit disorders (ADD/ADHD). In addition I deal with grief, isolation, and breaking creative blocks.
I'm Virginia Rubio, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Wilkes University and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent more than a decade as a registered nurse in settings that shaped how I practice today. I worked telemetry and medical-surgical units at a community hospital, cared for patients at a state psychiatric hospital, and provided care in correctional and juvenile health settings. Those environments put me alongside people at some of the hardest points in their lives, often people who had been dismissed or overlooked elsewhere. That's where I learned that being genuinely listened to is itself part of treatment.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, mood disorders, and sleep difficulties. I have a particular interest in women's mental health — perinatal concerns, hormonal and life transitions, and the specific pressures women often carry without naming them. I'm bilingual in English and Spanish, and I see patients throughout California by secure video.
Outside of work, I recharge with my family, time outdoors and on my feet, and a mindfulness practice I've kept up for years. Those things aren't separate from how I practice; they're a large part of why I believe daily habits and emotional health can't be pulled apart.
I'm a fully licensed LCSW based in California, and I'm easing back into practice after taking time away for my health. I work best with clients looking for shorter-term, focused support rather than long, open-ended treatment. I know what it's like to face real-life challenges, and I bring genuine warmth and honesty to every session.
You may be used to holding everything together while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck. Perhaps you find yourself overthinking, struggling to focus, feeling disconnected from yourself, or noticing that difficult experiences from the past continue to affect your life.
I am a Licensed Psychologist who works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma, and PTSD. I strive to provide a warm, culturally responsive, and supportive environment where you can feel understood without judgment. My goal is to meet you where you are while helping you gain greater clarity and move toward meaningful change.
