I am a certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with several years of experience treating children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in a wide range of treatment areas including depression, anxiety, autism, oppositional defiant disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. I have worked in several different settings and enjoy providing care through telehealth, which offers access to quality care when it is needed.

I have over eight years of experience working with people from diverse backgrounds in a variety of environments. I work with individuals, families, and couples to provide help coping with the stresses of everyday life as well as crisis situations. I am Dr. Darlene Anderson, A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina, a Nationally Recognized Board Certified Counselor (NCC), and an approved Supervisor for Virginia Board of Counselor residents. I have worked with clients through various issues and concerns, which includes depression, anxiety, substance issues, low self esteem, relationship issues, family conflict, codependency issues, trauma, stress, grief and loss, and life transitions.

I have 30 years of experience working with young adults, individuals, couples, and families in various settings such as community mental health facilities, home, schools, hospitals, detention centers, and private practice. I graduated with my bachelors degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, my masters degree in Counseling from the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC, and my doctorate degree in Social Work from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia, I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years. Currently, I provide individual and family therapy services to teenagers and adults experiencing mood disorders, anxiety, and trauma, as well as with LBGTQ+ and trans/gender non-conforming (TGNC) folks seeking supportive and affirming care.
