Hello! I am a nurse practitioner (NP) who is experienced in both Psychiatry and Primary Care. Before graduating with my MSN and Adult Primary Care NP program in 2015, I was a RN for 9 years in the hospital setting. While working in Psychiatry starting in 2022, I decided to pursue my Post-Master’s certification in Psychiatric Mental Health NP and graduated in April of 2024.
I am dual-certified in primary care and psychiatry. I am licensed in PA. I offer virtual and in-person appointments. I am accepting new clients.
When working with clients, I try to create a safe, non-judgmental space that will allow them to honestly share what is going on. I believe that our work together is a partnership, so I respect your feelings, beliefs, opinions and process. I am versatile in evidence-based practice methods, including EMDR and Motivational Interviewing, to help bring you clarity and relief.
I am curious and validating, providing a nurturing environment to talk openly and honestly about your struggles, strengths, weaknesses, needs, likes, and dislikes. I love helping people explore their unique and particular powers as well as how these powers impact their world and their relationships. As a passionate supporter of those who have been through unjust or otherwise traumatic experiences--including those experiencing discrimination based upon race or gender identity or sexual orientation--I am particularly interested in helping people gain skills for dealing with, and making sense of, the remnants of their pasts.
Having completed Bessel Van der Kolk's Trauma Research Foundation's Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies in early 2025, I have a strong foundational understanding of the most cutting edge approaches to treating trauma. I am also comfortable using a combination of approaches, including Psychodynamic, Gestalt, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I received an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania, a psychodynamically focused program, after which I completed Bryn Mawr's certificate program in psychodynamic psychotherapy. I have also completed 1 year of Gestalt Therapy training and the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Immersion Program.
As an LCSW, my training emphasized the role of social environment--from the family to society at large--in how we construct our narratives, enabling me to help you make sense of what in your life is yours to own and what is a product of your environment.
My name is Angela Dobrzynski (doh-BRIN-skee), and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, with over 19 years of experience in supporting adults as they navigate stress, anxiety, and periods of feeling stuck. I specialize in helping clients to identify obstacles and co-create actionable solutions, drawing from cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused techniques to foster meaningful growth and change.
I began my career working with substance use disorders and mental health disorders in 2006. The first 13 years of my career were centered on helping individuals and families recover from substance use disorders which often included co-morbid mental health disorders. The latter part of my career has been primarily focused on women’s health. I have specialized in helping to support women who are facing infertility, loss or miscarriage, perinatal and postpartum mood shifts. I truly enjoy supporting women while they navigate motherhood and all that this brings. I work with men and women age 18 and up.
I use a holistic approach to therapy with a focus in the following areas of Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems. In this work, I love to help people heal and grow in their relationship with self and others. I am a trauma informed therapist who is skilled in treating PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Life Transitions, and Mood Disorders.
I am a certified yoga teacher, and I believe it is important to incorporate the body into therapy. I incorporate body centered techniques to help people engage with their nervous system and take back control of their stress response. Whether you or a loved one is struggling with ongoing mood disorder symptoms or are going through a difficult life experience I can help to empower you to feel more grounded and more confident in your ability to manage hard times. By changing our thoughts and behaviors we can improve our relationship with ourselves as well as with those around us.
I specialize in helping adults and young adults manage anxiety disorders, panic attacks, chronic stress, and burnout using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches. I also support clients experiencing depression, trauma-related symptoms, and life transitions that feel overwhelming or hard to manage alone.
Many of the people I work with are functioning well but internally overwhelmed—dealing with constant worry, racing thoughts, physical symptoms of anxiety, or a persistent sense of being “on edge.” Others notice anxiety affecting their sleep, focus, relationships, or ability to relax and enjoy life.
I have my Bachelors degree from the University of Scranton in Psychology in 2010 and received my Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 2013 also from The University of Scranton. I have worked in many fields prior to getting into private practice and have experience with couples therapy, addiction, inpatient and outpatient mental health counseling, adolescents, grief and trauma. I hold a CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) and an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Pennsylvania.
