Life can leave us carrying experiences that feel too heavy to hold alone. Whether you’re facing the impact of trauma, struggling in relationships, navigating grief and loss, managing anger, or working through challenges related to substance use, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect, and begin again. The healing is not a "one-size-fits-all" process; my goal is to utilize an evidence-based intervention that you feel really "clicks" with how you view life and approach problem-solving. Common interventions I utilize include: EMDR, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-focused Brief Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
I believe therapy should be a place where you don’t have to have it all together. Many of my clients are high-achieving professionals who are used to being the “strong one” for everyone else, but privately struggle with relationships, boundaries, confidence, or life transitions. I strive to create a warm, collaborative space where you can show up authentically, gain insight into patterns that no longer serve you, and build healthier relationships with yourself and others. I especially enjoy working with Black women and LGBTQ+ adults and strive to create an affirming, culturally responsive space where clients can show up fully as themselves.
I’m a Raleigh-based licensed clinical mental health therapist offering services across North Carolina. I work with adolescents and young adults and specialize in anxiety management, emotional resilience, and relationship building.
I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families. My expertise includes trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavior management, family conflict, life transitions, and relationship issues through a predominantly Cognitive Behavior Therapy approach. As a queer female, I especially enjoy working with the LGBTQIA+ community.
I specialize in treating trauma, with extensive training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy to treat youth and Cognitive Processing Therapy for adults. I also have training in and incorporate principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
I approach sessions as an experienced professional and a real person. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as your full, uncensored self—say the hard things, the messy things, even the things you’re not sure how to put into words—and still feel accepted, heard, and supported. Many people reach out to me feeling overwhelmed by everyday stress, big world events, or the sense that things keep changing without much warning. It can feel like there’s no escape from stress, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Therapy can be a place to slow down, breathe, share humor, & talk things through with someone who’s really listening. My career spans 20+ years in mental health, addiction treatment, and disability services.
I earned my BSN from Duke University in 2014, my Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree from Gonzaga University in 2017, and my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2020. I also completed a Plant-Based Nutrition certification through Cornell University. My background spans both community and mental health care, including experience at a large community health center in Washington, DC, where I worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life circumstances. My foundation in family medicine has given me extensive experience caring for people with co-occurring mental health and complex medical conditions. I also have significant experience supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and strive to provide compassionate, whole-person care that meets each patient's unique needs.

Factors to Consider When Choosing an LGBTQIA Therapist in Charlotte
Finding LGBTQIA+ therapists in Charlotte starts with identity-affirming care. Look for a therapist who clearly names experience with LGBTQIA+ people, gender-diverse clients, affirmative therapy, WPATH training, or related support in their profile. This can matter when you want care connected to identity, relationships, family stress, anxiety, depression, or life transitions. A strong match will list specialties and training that reflect your needs, not just a broad note about being welcoming.
Charlotte has many therapists across neighborhoods like Uptown, South End, NoDa, Plaza Midwood, and nearby areas, which can make it hard to narrow your options. In-person sessions may work well if you want an office close to home, work, or transit. Virtual appointments can expand access to LGBTQIA+-affirming therapists beyond your immediate neighborhood. As you compare options, review availability, therapeutic approach, therapist background, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Bios can help you see how a therapist describes their style, experience, and work with LGBTQIA+ clients before you book.
Therapy in Charlotte can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you find therapists who may accept insurance, are accepting new patients, and show estimated out-of-pocket costs before your first session. You can browse LGBTQIA+ therapists, review profiles, and book directly when you’re ready.
