I’ve spent years sitting with people at their lowest—through addiction, crisis, and the kind of pain that can make life feel unmanageable. That work taught me something I bring into every session now: nobody is “too much,” and no story is too messy. These days, I’m more focused on slower, steadier work. Whether you’re worn down by depression, gripping through stress, or finally ready to be honest about drinking or using, I’ll meet you where you are with steadiness, honesty, and compassion. You don’t need the right words yet; we’ll figure it out together.

Hi, I’m Triana Smith, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I believe you don’t have to navigate life’s hardest seasons alone. Therapy can be a place to slow down, feel understood, and make sense of what you’ve been experiencing without fear of judgment.

I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, with particular interests in trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, identity, and major life transitions. With 3,500+ direct clinical hours, I’ve had the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and at many different stages of life.

I especially enjoy working with people who may feel disconnected from themselves, overwhelmed by life’s demands, or unsure of who they are or what comes next. I also work with individuals and couples navigating communication difficulties, relationship patterns, emotional disconnection, grief, or the impact of past experiences on their current relationships.

My background includes trauma-focused work, and I approach each client with curiosity, compassion, and respect for their individual story. I believe that even the parts of ourselves we may feel ashamed of, frustrated by, or wish we could change deserve to be understood rather than judged.

For clients who desire it, I also provide Christian, faith-integrated therapy. Faith can be a meaningful source of hope, identity, strength, and healing, and I’m happy to incorporate Christian beliefs, values, and spirituality into therapy when that is important to you. You never have to fit into a particular mold—our work will always be guided by your needs, values, and goals.

My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can move from simply surviving to truly thriving—developing greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, stronger confidence, and a deeper sense of purpose.

To ensure absolute confidence in our partnership, you should know that I operate less like a traditional therapist and more like a psychological strategist. Built specifically for high-achievers accustomed to heavy loads, my approach does not rely on passive listening. Instead, I am highly active, engaged, and direct. I match your cognitive speed, treating your emotional well-being with the same urgency and strategic precision you apply to your most critical professional ventures.

Within our sessions, the usual hierarchies are stripped away to provide a rare ecosystem of utmost discretion and radical candor. Because I am entirely focused on the human being operating the machine, I will gently but firmly challenge your blind spots and call out self-sabotaging logic. You will never hear me hide behind clinical jargon; instead, I translate complex behavioral science into plain, actionable frameworks designed for a logical, analytical mind.

Ultimately, I view myself as a specialized asset in your corner, operating on the principle that insight without execution is just an expensive conversation. Our work prioritizes data and action, ensuring every concept is pressure-tested in the real world—whether in your boardroom, your marriage, or your internal life. My sole objective is to help you optimize your inner world so your outer success is sustainable, fulfilling, and integrated with the people you love.

Find an expert who truly understands maternal mental health

Headway helps you find expert-guided support for every stage of motherhood — from finding the right therapist or psychiatrist, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Postpartum Therapist in Augusta, GA

Searching for postpartum therapists in Augusta starts with finding someone whose training matches the support you want. Postpartum concerns can include postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, birth-related stress, identity shifts, and relationship strain. Some therapists also list perinatal mental health training or a perinatal mental health certification (PMH-C), which can signal added experience with pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood-related care. Reading each therapist’s bio can help you see whether their specialties, approach, and experience fit what you want to discuss.

In a mid-size city like Augusta, your search may include therapists with local offices, therapists who offer virtual appointments, or both. Virtual care can be especially practical for new parents managing infant care, physical recovery, and changing schedules. Beyond postpartum experience, it can help to compare appointment availability, scheduling flexibility, therapeutic approach, and whether a free phone consultation is offered. Therapist profiles can also show how someone describes their communication style, which may help you decide who feels like a strong fit before you book.

Therapy in Augusta can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network coverage is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you search for postpartum therapists in Augusta who are accepting new patients, review detailed bios, enter your insurance details, see estimated out-of-pocket costs, and book directly when you’re ready.

1 Cost may vary based on your location, age, and insurance coverage.
