Over the past 10 years, I've worked in outpatient mental health, residential treatment, and healthcare settings, providing therapy to adolescents, adults, older adults, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns.

Greetings, my name is Dr. LaTonya Shaw, I am the CEO of M.I.N.D Therapeutic Services, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Clinical Healthcare Administrator with over 15 years of experience guiding individuals, couples, and families toward healing and personal growth. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University, where I focused on Mental Health Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, Child Psychology, and Marriage and Family Therapy. I earned my Doctoral degree in Clinical Healthcare Administration from the University of Lynchburg.

I was born and raised in Southeastern Florida by my strict and loving paternal grandmother. I am the eldest of my siblings and proudly embrace my Native American, South American, and African American heritage. I am a devoted mother of three adult children, a Godmother to five, two grandpups, finding joy in family, travel, escape rooms, coloring, and sipping hot tea.

Elizabeth Lerner received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communications and Sociology from the University of Miami in 1993 and earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida International University in 1995. She became licensed in 1998 and is a qualified supervisor for those seeking Florida licensure.

I believe in a holistic, individualized approach to mental health. I am committed to creating a supportive and understanding environment where clients feel heard and valued. My extensive background allows me to connect with and care for patients from diverse populations, ensuring a comprehensive and empathetic experience.

When you become my patient, I will begin with a full psychiatric evaluation to understand your unique needs. Based on this assessment, medications will be prescribed and carefully managed as needed. Throughout your journey, holistic individualized care will be provided, and you will be connected with relevant resources and references to support your well-being. I specialize in caring for patients of all ages and have experience with a range of mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and Bipolar Disorder.

I trained in medicine before I became a therapist, and it changed what I listen for. When a client tells me her chest tightens before every meeting, or that she can't stop thinking about a diagnosis, I take the physical side of that seriously.

I hold a PhD in health psychology and I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and Florida. My published research is on post-traumatic growth in women. Since 2020 I've also taught graduate counseling and psychology as an adjunct professor.

I see adults dealing with trauma and complex trauma, chronic illness, health anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions. I work with women through perinatal and postpartum struggles and through fertility challenges. I also see adolescents.

I speak English, Hindi, Arabic, and Urdu. If you're dealing with immigration, acculturation, or family expectations that don't translate easily, you won't have to explain that context to me first.
