I am the founder of Nova Counseling Services, I have Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Barry University. As a licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida, Pilar’s career began in child welfare and family reunification with the Department of Children and Families. With a focus on dual diagnosis and substance use treatment, she is a Certified Addiction Professional and a qualified supervisor for social work interns.

It's difficult making the first phone call, booking an appointment and admitting you need help. Whether it's depression, anxiety, a mood disorder or trauma, it's frightening to admit that everything isn't how you want it to be and you don't have all the answers. If you're experiencing sadness, anxiety, mood swings, intrusive thoughts or images, flash backs, numbness or insomnia, there is hope and there is help. I'm going to teach you skills to manage you symptoms, emotions and relationships more effectively.

I know what it's like to struggle and please know that it DOES get better! In my early 20's I battled anxiety and made a vow to learn how to manage these symptoms and help others manage them too! I went back to school at Columbia University where I learned as much as I could about how to effectively treat mental health conditions and personal challenges. I understand both professionally AND personally how challenging life can be and believe fully in the healing power of a therapeutic relationship!

I’m a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, personalized care for adolescents and adults. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood concerns, stress, and life transitions, with a special interest in men’s mental health. I believe mental health care should feel collaborative, comfortable, and free of judgment. My goal is to help you better understand what you’re experiencing and find a treatment approach that works for you.
