Hello and welcome. I believe that healing happens through a connection of mind, body and spirit. My goal is to provide a supportive space where clients feel understood and empowered to create meaningful change. Drawing from a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, I help clients identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck while building practical tools for growth and resilience. I believe in the strength of the human spirit and having the ability to reframe core belief's. Whether you are navigating a difficult season or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I would be honored to support you on your journey.
My experience includes mental health treatment, substance use treatment, eating disorder treatment, intensive family therapy, and grief work. I view each person within the context of their relationships, environment, and life experiences, and tailor treatment to meet their unique needs.
I grew up in South Florida where I developed a lifelong love for dance. I went to college at Florida State University, and it was there, I developed my passion and love for volunteering, working with youth, and developing people. While in graduate school, I focused on eating disorders as a treatment specialty, specifically higher levels of care (residential and partial hospitalization programming). Since 2017, I’ve worked as a therapist in different age groups. Starting with young children and moving on to being a therapist for a middle and high school. In 2022, I was able to return to my first passion in therapy and I started with The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders. I’ve worked as a primary therapist, a team leader, and a site director with the company’s residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. I am now opening up some of my time on the side to venture into the private practice world and return to the direct work I fell in love with years ago.

Hi, I’m Jennifer McCollum. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida dedicated to supporting families of the fallen and those navigating the complex, high-stakes landscape of profound loss. Whether you are navigating a line-of-duty loss, life as a solo parent, or a significant life transition, I offer a steady, expert hand to help you find your footing in the "messy middle."
I bring over 20 years of experience across clinical, school, personal, and community settings. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech, with a concentration in Child Life and Play Therapy. This background allows me to provide both high-level clinical expertise and practical, "real-world" insight into how individuals and families grow, heal, and rebuild after the unthinkable.
Grief, loss, anxiety, and depression can make everyday life feel harder to navigate. I support clients working through bereavement, end-of-life concerns, anxiety, and depression in online therapy. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in South Carolina and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina, with 17 years of experience. I want you to feel heard, respected, and supported as you make sense of what you’re carrying. If you’re looking for a compassionate space to talk openly, I welcome you to reach out.
You are too stressed. You wake up in the morning and wonder if you will have a better day. Things used to be much better, easier to cope. Are you going to make it through the day without the recurring depression and anxiety? Will she (he) get on your nerves again? Will this be another day to feel like a failure or loser?
You must do something to make it better. I have the proven methods to banish anxiety and depression and improve relationships. If this relates to you, you need to talk to me.

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Family Therapist in Orlando
Searching for family therapists in Orlando starts with finding someone trained to support the whole family system, not just one person. Family counseling can help with parenting conflict, adolescent concerns, blended family dynamics, communication across generations, and major life changes. As you compare therapists, look for listed experience with family therapy, marriage counseling, couples therapy, or related approaches. A therapist’s bio can also show how they structure sessions and what kinds of family concerns they commonly support.
Orlando has a broad mix of therapists, with options across local neighborhoods and surrounding areas, as well as virtual appointments for added flexibility. For family counseling in Orlando, session attendance may vary based on your goals. Some sessions may include the full family, while others may involve parents, partners, siblings, or individual family members. Before booking, review each therapist’s availability, whether they offer a free phone consultation, and how they describe their communication style and session structure.
Therapy in Orlando, FL can be a significant investment without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs. Headway helps you search for therapists who are accepting new patients, review detailed profiles, and see estimated out-of-pocket costs before booking. You can compare therapists for family counseling in Orlando, confirm who accepts your plan, and book directly when you’re ready.
