I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and deep respect for your unique story. I work with people across all stages of life who are navigating the effects of trauma, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, or feeling disconnected from themselves. My goal is to help you rebuild safety, rediscover connection, and move toward a more grounded, authentic sense of self. Alongside traditional therapy, I also offer Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, which can provide a meaningful, body-centered way to explore healing and self-awareness.
I am a licensed Profession Counselor with more than a decade of experience in the mental health field. I have been working in a variety of settings since 2012, providing counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Throughout my career I have worked with a wide range of mental health diagnoses as well as substance use concerns. My clinical focus and the area I am most passionate about is trauma. I am nationally certified in Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), with an additional training and clinical experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Aggression Replacement Training. My therapeutic style is compassionate, genuine, and highly individualized. I believe in meeting clients where they are and working together to determine what they need from therapy. Sometimes that means learning new skills, sometimes it means having a safe place to talk and be heard, and sometimes it means a little bit of everything. My goal is to help clients feel safe, supported, understood, and genuinely empowered, not managed. I truly believe that having a place where you can feel safe and relaxed is often the first step toward healing. When we have the opportunity to let our guard down and feel accepted for who we are, we can begin to process what we've been carrying and work toward letting go.
Outside of work, life is busy and lively with my husband, out two children and our collection of pets. We have two cats, two dogs, and a rabbit. Animals have always been one of my main coping skills and self care. I am happiest when surrounded by them. I am also usually happiest in the middle of a DIY project, even if I'm not entirely sure how it is going to turn out when I start.
Are you constantly asking yourself “what if,” worrying about what other people think, or feeling triggered by situations and relationships that seem difficult to understand? Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, or relationship challenges and aren’t quite sure what is causing you to feel this way. I’m Holly Doughty, a Licensed Professional Counselor and EMDR and DBT therapist who works with children, teens, and adults. I specialize in anxiety, trauma, relationships, depression, and chronic pain, and I have experience helping clients work through difficult patterns, emotional distress, and life experiences that can feel overwhelming. As a mother, I also understand that life can be complicated, and sometimes you need a place where you can be honest about what you’re carrying.
Hi, I’m Dominique, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Substance Abuse Counselor. I've worked with adults navigating substance use concerns, anxiety, relationships, identity, and major life changes for almost a decade. My approach is real, compassionate, and culturally aware. I believe therapy should feel like a conversation that helps you grow, not a clinical checklist.
Hello, and welcome.
Seeking support can be one of the most courageous steps a person takes, and I believe therapy works best when you feel understood, respected, and genuinely supported. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore challenges, build resilience, and move toward the life you want to live.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor with extensive experience working with adults facing trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, life transitions, relationship challenges, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Throughout my career, I have worked in outpatient, residential, and community-based settings, helping individuals navigate some of life's most difficult experiences while rediscovering their strengths and sense of purpose.
In addition to my clinical experience, I am a United States Air Force combat veteran and former first responder. These experiences have given me firsthand insight into the unique challenges associated with high-stress professions, trauma exposure, operational demands, transition struggles, and the pressure of carrying significant responsibility while managing your own well-being. As a result, I have a particular passion for working with veterans, active-duty military members, first responders, healthcare professionals, and others whose careers require them to care for others while often neglecting themselves.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor in AZ and WI, Certified Biblical Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I don’t just bring textbook therapy skills to the table—I bring life experience, authenticity, and a fierce commitment to helping you heal. What really sets me apart is my "spicy" approach. Therapy with me isn’t cookie-cutter. I respect the foundational theories, but I thrive on making sessions as dynamic and individualized as you need them to be.
I have worked primarily with adults, older adults, and adolescents on issues of mental health that may be impacting one's ability to function in day-to-day life such as: depression, anxiety, other mood and thought disorders, suicidality (for individuals as well as those bereaved from suicide losses), interpersonal violence, LGBTQIA+ support, topics surrounding race and culture, hoarding (both individuals affected and their loved ones), criminal justice system-involvement, and trauma (individual, intergenerational, and community).
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have experience working in outpatient clinics, inpatient psychiatric settings, residential substance use treatment, as well as community re-entry and job coaching support programs for the last 10 years.
As a fully licensed therapist for 4+ years Ashley has had experience working with a wide range of clients. Recently she has begun to focus on women's health, ADHD and those with addiction issues.

Factors to Consider When Choosing an Addiction Therapist in Madison
Finding addiction therapists in Madison starts with knowing what kind of support fits your needs. Addiction care can include support for alcohol use, drug use, nicotine use, compulsive behaviors, and co-occurring concerns like anxiety, depression, or trauma. As you compare therapists, look for training and listed specialties that match what you want to address. Some therapists use approaches like motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy for substance use, or harm reduction frameworks. Some people may also work with a prescriber as part of their care team.
Madison has a strong mental health care community, with both local offices and virtual appointments available. Your search may include therapists near downtown, the university area, or surrounding neighborhoods, as well as therapists who offer virtual care across Wisconsin. Recovery can involve progress, setbacks, and changing needs, so it helps to look for a therapist whose profile reflects a non-judgmental style and experience with addiction care. You can also compare availability, session format, therapy approach, and whether a free phone consultation is offered before booking.
Addiction therapy in Madison can be a significant cost without insurance. Using in-network coverage is one of the most reliable ways to reduce what you pay for sessions. Headway helps you find addiction therapists who accept a wide range of insurance plans, show upfront cost estimates, and are accepting new patients. You can review bios, compare appointment times, and book directly when you’re ready.
