My path into psychiatry is both professional and personal. I moved to the U.S. alone at 17 while navigating complex PTSD and periods of misdiagnosis, which shaped how I understand mental health today. I began with a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Nankai University, then trained as a nurse and nurse practitioner at Charles R. Drew University and Purdue University.
Over the past 7 years, I’ve worked across medical and mental health settings, developing an approach that balances clinical precision with individualized care. I specialize in anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and complex PTSD, particularly for individuals who feel stuck or haven’t found relief in traditional treatment.
I’m licensed in California, Virginia, New York, Washington, and Oregon, and provide care via telehealth.
Taking the first step toward better mental health is a sign of strength. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, and related conditions. My approach is collaborative, personalized, and focused on helping you feel your best through medication management, supportive therapy, and practical strategies for lasting wellness.
I have a holistic, creative approach to counseling, focusing not just on talk-therapy, but mind-body connection and our network of supports and relationships. I have worked in non-profit and community counseling centers and have experience with all ages of clients as well as multiple levels of abilities. My education background is not only in clinical mental health counseling but also peace and justice and art studies.

You deserve care that honors every part of who you are. I'm here when you're ready.
I am originally from North Carolina and moved to Virginia 6 years ago. I studied at Wake Forest University. Since I was younger, I've enjoyed helping others and learning about the science of mental health. It became my hobby when I was younger. I enjoy working with so many backgrounds and increasing my education each year as I help new people. Currently, I like to utilize mindfulness based CBT, DBT, and ACT.
I believe therapy works best when clients feel safe, heard, and genuinely supported. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment where clients can show up as their authentic selves. My approach is compassionate, direct when needed, and focused on helping clients build practical tools for everyday life while also exploring deeper emotional patterns and experiences.
I enjoy working with individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem challenges, stress, identity exploration, and emotional overwhelm. I am passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC clients and creating an affirming therapeutic space where clients feel respected and understood.
I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and my goal is to meet clients where they are while helping them move toward healing, clarity, and meaningful growth.
I’m Lex Santí, LCSW, DSW-S, MFA, Clinical Director of A Key Therapy, a mindfulness-based telehealth practice. I work with adults and couples (18+) navigating anxiety, burnout, life transitions, relationship concerns, and questions of meaning and identity. I’m licensed in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Virginia.
Before founding A Key Therapy, I worked as a generalist therapist at Cornell Health, and earlier led international crisis response at Cornell. I know how heavy it can feel to carry a lot at once, and I bring steadiness, curiosity, and humor to the work. I’m also a writer, a yoga teacher, and a former Peace Corps volunteer, and I speak English, Spanish, Romanian, French, and Hungarian.
My caseload is often full, so if you’d like to work with me specifically, I keep a waitlist. A Key Therapy also has other clinicians who may be a great fit. You can learn more at akeytherapy.co.
