Hello and Welcome! I began my LCSW career as a therapist at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute (now Huntsman Mental Health Institute, or HMHI) and several Employee Assistant Programs (EAP’s) before opening my own private practice.
With a strong foundation in diagnosing and treating acute mental illnesses, I now focus primarily on helping clients facing less severe but impactful mental health issues. My areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, relationship challenges, anger management, and childhood-related problems and primarily work with adults and older adolescents.
Though it may not be immediately visible, I bring extensive experience working with diverse populations, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodivergent (ND), and neurotypical (NT) individuals. I openly invite questions and conversations around these topics, emphasizing my inclusive and affirming approach.
Beyond my clinical work, I am passionate about the outdoors and enjoy Utah’s rich natural offerings, including hiking, camping, scuba diving, skiing, sailing, and climbing. A dedicated traveler, I’ve visited approximately 75 countries, with extended stays in the majority of them. My extroverted nature fuels a deep curiosity about people and their unique life experiences.
Currently I work full time as a professor in Family Studies and Human Development, because I love studying what makes people tick, including the vital role relationships play in our formation and happiness. I've been a practicing Marriage and Family Therapist for over 17 years.

I strive to help individuals who have been plagued by past or current trauma. I am here to empower within and help my clients uncover who they truly are. My goal is to connect with your potential, find wellness, and create meaning. Finding a therapist who empathizes yet pushes you is never easy. My gentle approach will aid clients in understanding their maladaptive thought patterns and challenging the narrative that has kept them stuck for so long.

Are you a veteran feeling weighed down by anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship stress, or the emotional load of motherhood? I work with veterans facing PTSD, maternal mental health challenges, and relationship struggles, and I also support people navigating recovery. First and foremost, I enjoy meeting people, getting to know the way they think, making people comfortable, and then seeing how I can help or support. I enjoy seeing people grow through their challenges and find progress in their goals. I've spent much of my career working in psychiatric hospitals managing crisis, doing family and adolescent counseling, and have built several addiction counseling programs. I and am currently working as the Clinical Director for an addiction medical clinic, but looking at building up my private practice for more independence. I'm always up to learning something new as I meet new people, and am looking forward to seeing how I can help.
