Hello, I'm Dr. Timberlake, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, Missouri, Florida and the founder of A Different World Counseling Services. I am passionate about helping individuals overcome life's challenges, heal from painful experiences, and rediscover their sense of self-worth, confidence, and emotional well-being.
Since beginning my counseling career in 2018, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds, including individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and involvement with the judicial system. My experience in private practice and as a Family and Youth Specialist at the University of Kansas Hospital has deepened my understanding of childhood adversity, emotional development, and the lasting impact of trauma.
I’m Brandi, and I bring over 20 years of heart-and-hustle to this work. I believe therapy is a partnership — we’ll explore what’s working, what’s holding you back, and what changes feel meaningful to you. Whether you’re dealing with stress, navigating relationships, or figuring out your direction, I’ll walk alongside you, not above you.
My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck - whether from the pressures of work, family, trauma, or life transitions. They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD symptoms, or the lingering effects of trauma. Many are high functioning professionals, first responders, healthcare workers, or veterans who've spent years putting others first and are now realizing their own mental health needs attention. They're seeking a provider who listens, validates, and offers practical, stigma-free care to ease symptoms, improve focus and sleep, and regain balance with a collaborative, holistic plan.
I am an empathetic, patient, and inclusive therapist with a passion for helping others that are going through difficult transitions in life and experiencing hardships. My foundation is based on establishing trust and providing a safe and accepting space for open communication to build a strong therapeutic alliance. I collaborate with clients to improve their emotional quality of life, develop their capacity to handle life’s stressors and mental health concerns. My counseling style is diversified, integrating person-centered, psychodynamic, emotionally focused, cognitive-behavioral, and existential therapy into counseling sessions.
I am passionate about helping adults of all ages struggling with mood disorders, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive behaviors. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds, including neurodivergent and those who identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I specialize in helping adults who live with trauma, anxiety, depression, and OCD. I draw from ACT, EMDR, embodiment practices, and parts work, and I am neurodivergent‐friendly and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I also have experience supporting clients through psychosis, grief, chronic health issues, spiritual trauma, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.
At the core of my work is a belief that every person has the capacity to choose who they become. As Jean‐Paul Sartre wrote, “We are constantly creating ourselves through action.” I see therapy as a space where you can explore that creation with support, clarity, and intention.
I work with clients of diverse backgrounds, sexual orientations, genders, and relationship structures. I specialize in assisting adults and couples to recognize and disrupt existing patterns learned throughout their lives, which can affect them in multiple ways. Additionally, I offer practical skills that can be applied immediately to address symptoms of anxiety, depression, and relationship issues, thereby improving overall functioning.
I am a licensed professional counselor. I enjoy working with children as well as adults to help them achieve their goals.
