I have been working in the mental health field for the past seven years, with a strong foundation in nursing and psychiatric care. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2019 and began my career on a behavioral health unit, where I gained extensive experience supporting individuals with both acute and chronic mental health conditions.
In 2024, I completed my Master of Science in Nursing and became a Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Over the past two years in advanced practice, I have provided comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment for a wide range of mental health disorders.
My clinical experience includes addiction medicine and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), as well as the management of depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and ADHD. I am committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered care. I work collaboratively with clients to develop individualized treatment plans that promote stability, resilience, and long-term well-being.
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, I believe healing happens through genuine connection, curiosity, and compassion. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and you don't have to navigate it alone. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to show up exactly as you are—without judgment—as we work together toward greater understanding, resilience, and meaningful change.
I specialize in treating Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN). and Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents (EIPs).
I work with individuals 18+, couples, and parents who want to heal from their past, build healthier relationships, and break cycles of emotional neglect in their own families. I also help clients navigate difficult relationships with parents and in-laws.
I help clients learn to:
-Set boundaries
-Understand and manage their emotions & triggers
-Recognize and rewire old patterns
-Identify + communicate their wants/needs
-Feel more confident & comfortable in their own skin
-Build healthier, more authentic relationships
-Better understand their past - and themself
I also provide virtual support groups for both CEN and Adult Children of EIPs.
Welcome to Family Forward Therapy, a Texas-based group practice offering virtual therapy for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Our team includes therapists with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and areas of focus so we can help connect you with someone who fits your individual needs.
I’m Roberto Martinez, therapist and founder of Family Forward Therapy. I’ve built a team of clinicians with different backgrounds, specialties, and experiences so that clients have more options when looking for the right therapist.
We work with concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, relationship and family challenges, parenting stress, grief, life transitions, and more. Our clinicians also bring experience working with populations and concerns that can sometimes be harder to find specialized support for.
When you schedule through this profile, you are connecting with Family Forward Therapy rather than only one individual therapist. After you book, we may contact you briefly to learn what type of therapy you’re seeking and what you would like help with. Based on your needs, preferences, availability, and insurance, your appointment may be reassigned to another therapist within our practice who may be a better fit.
Our goal is simple: help you get connected with the right therapist without having to spend weeks searching.

Find the right therapist for you

Factors to Consider When Choosing a Therapist in Saint Paul
Searching for therapists in Saint Paul starts with knowing what kind of support you want. You may be looking for care related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship concerns, grief, or life transitions. As you compare Saint Paul therapists, look for someone whose listed specialties and training match your needs. Provider bios can also help you understand their therapy style, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, or other approaches.
In a smaller city like Saint Paul, local office options may be more limited by neighborhood, schedule, or specialty. Virtual therapy can expand your options while still connecting you with a therapist licensed in Minnesota. As you narrow your search, consider appointment availability, whether the therapist is accepting new patients, session format, and whether they offer a free phone consultation. Reading profiles before booking can help you compare communication style, areas of focus, and what to expect in a first session.
Therapy in Saint Paul can be a significant cost without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand what you may pay before care begins. Headway helps you find therapists who match your preferences and offers upfront cost estimates after you enter your insurance details to confirm coverage for your therapist and location. You can browse profiles, review availability, and book directly when you’re ready.
