I have always known I wanted to be a therapist. From a young age I was empathic, patient, validating, comforting, flexible, and trustworthy. I believe that these were attributes that my friends and family seek me out for advice or to vent.
I studied psychology at Ithaca College and then worked for 4 years in foster care and group homes in NJ and NYC. Then, I moved to Boston and got my masters in mental health counseling at UMass Boston. Since graduating, I have worked in a wide variety of mental health environments; programs, schools, community based mental health, and virtual therapy platforms.
I am someone who is passionate about helping others and making everyone I meet feel heard, seen, and empowered.
I am accepting new clients. Navigating through life can be challenging. I have extensive experience and advanced training in substance use. My concentrations are substance use, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am also experienced in providing emotional support with LGBTQ+, life stressors, relationship difficulties, divorce, legal problems, financial issues, or loss. I have worked with adults of diverse backgrounds and all walks of life. Every person's journey is unique. My hope is to support you in your intentions to live your best and most satisfying life.
We offer a wide range of mental and behavioral health support ranging from introductory psychotherapy and psychoeducation, medication management and client referral. You are guaranteed to always feel welcome and at home. We utilize a holistic, non-judgmental and person centered approach to provide quality care to our clients in a calm and relaxed environment. We provide telehealth and office visits. Ijeoma or IJ, holds a Master's Degree in Nursing, and is board certified Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
I work with individuals and people in relationships navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, shame, anger, relationship distress, parenting, adoption, identity, and life transitions. Together, we'll slow down enough to notice what has been difficult to see, better understand what's happening beneath the surface, and explore new ways of relating to yourself and others.
